This is another inside clone. It's not even subtle. So, this is a cinematic platformer with a heavy emphasis on atmosphere and a vague story. It does it pretty well. But it's gameplay where it falls flat compared to Inside. The controls are noticeable stiff. But it also is not that good at communication sometimes. In the forest area, you are hiding from enemies. At one point a rock gets knocked over and 2 enemies come to investigate. I couldn't figure out that I had to hide in the log because it was completely solid black, and I could climb on it. Also, I thought my cover was blown in general. So, it didn't occur to me to hide there. The only reason I got passed that area was that 2 enemies froze and didn't kill me. So, the game is also a bit buggy. Even then, all I saw in this game was a weaker Inside. Just play that game instead.

Ok Stela... remember the game Limbo? Well I certainly can because it had a unique quality that I’d never experienced before and it remains one of my favourite games of all time because still to this day I remember every event clearly. There’s been a few games since then that have taken the Limbo formula and done well with it and whilst they weren’t as good as Limbo they still were games that were worth playing. Stela is another game that has taken the Limbo formula and implemented it into its gameplay and in my opinion this is probably the best version to date that has been done since the original. I say this because it has the unique quality that was missing from the other games that tried to do what Limbo did and in the end this makes Stela unforgettable from start to finish and it was that good that I wish it was a little longer. What makes Stela so unforgettable? For starters the presentation in this game is simply perfect because both the beautiful visuals and sound design are very immersive to say the least and whilst there are no words present in the adventure you go on it still always manages to be interesting because of these aspects. In terms of the gameplay the best way I could describe this game is simple yet very effective. Each mechanic has been done well and they all combine together to create even more of an immersive atmosphere. Is Stela a copy of previous games like Limbo or Inside? A little of both. On the one hand it takes what was so good in the previous games and implements them into Stela’s gameplay. On the other hand though it also feels unique in its own right so I wouldn’t exactly call it a carbon copy instead I would call it a game that has used tried and tested formulas whilst also incorporating its own unique little tweaks here and there. Those of you who enjoyed the likes of Limbo and Inside should definitely get Stela because it’s definitely up there with them. Yes it isn’t as perfect as the previous games and it may not be as spectacular as them but if you’re a gamer that loves to be drawn in from start to finish then the different elements and presentation within this game will do just that, even tho like other games in the same genre when there over you're always wishing it was a bit longer game in the end.
