Da mascella a terra! All'epoca non potevi non comprare un Dreamcast soltanto per giocare a questo capolavoro. Grafica pazzesca, che ancora oggi non sfigura affatto, e una giocabilità che era perfetta. Inutile dire che la serie da qui è andata sempre più scemando e poi si è persa, ma questa era Namco nel suo prime.

This was such a hit for me and my buds. Must've lucked out at blockbuster that day when it dropped...brought it home and was hooked. Killer graphics and great fighting.

Considering its age, it’s simply the best game I’ve ever played. The fluidity, the depth of its combo system, the generous progression and the precision of its combat system are unmatched.

This was easily my favorite fighting game from this generation. Far more beautiful than it's arcade original, fluid controls, fun characters, extras, and an amazing competitive experience. I highly recommend it. Siegfried was my homie, btw.

The Dreamcast port of "Soul Calibur" is an arcade perfect masterpiece. It's easily one of the best fighting games of all time. And it's certainly the best entry in the series. Graphically, "Soul" is still impressive. The animation is fluid, the framerate is smooth and the fighters look great. Tight controls, fantastic music and terrific fight mechanics help make this a classic. I'd rate it with 10 out of 10.

I do not know why this is in tip ten. It's a good game but there are lots better than it. Even other games in the Soulcaliber series. Best way to play this one is if you can find an old arcade machine and take plenty of quarters

Perfect game: the definitive fighting game that brought great characters, fighting mechanisms, incredible graphics and hours of gameplay alone or with friends.

It has good combat, that's for sure, analog stick is really useful, I still prefer the XBLA version, but this one's a 9.6/10

One of the first popular 3D games to be a global success, became the reference of the genre even 25 years later! How many hours spent on this game trying to master each character, making combos or pushing the opponent out of the ring for a faster and easier win! Again in 2025 I regularly play this game for fun and it is clear that apart from the aging graphics, the game and its gameplay are still very good for today's standards !

This is probably the best fighting game I've played except for maybe smash ultimate. All of the controls are fluid and there is a good cast of fighters to choose from. The first time i played i beat the arcade mode then immediately played 70+ rounds in vs mode with a freind until he had to leave. Highly recommend this game to anybody with a dreamcast.

Acho o jogo muito bonito e revolucionário, mas top 2 de todos os tempos? Sério? Todos sabemos que o gênero de luta em sí não atinge tanto e não abrange seus alcances, jogos muito mais divertido seria melhor tipo breath of the Wild, onde uma criança e um adulto poderia jogar e se divertir igualmente, não digo que todo jogo deveria ser aberto a todas as idades mas foi apenas um exemplo de jogo que tem mais fãs pelo fato de ser mais divertido e menos repetitivo, mas nem só de críticas negativas vive uma review, é realmente um jogo Premium e você vê que tem um atento ao design dos personagens, que. Por mais que poucos, são bem diversos estaticamente. Digo que ele merece reconhecimento mas nesta lista não.

Good on it for starting a classic fighting game but the 99/100 scores are ridiculous.

The fighting holds up and is super fun. i love the music and artwork and level of detail in the background of each map plus the fluent controls. LOVE ROUNDHOUSE KICKING THEM IN THE FACE *POW* not a must play but if you love fighting game definitely check it out.

Easily the best fighting game available at the time, Soulcalibur was one of the biggest selling points for Sega's ultimately doomed console. It still looks great today and was surpassed only by its own sequel Soulcalibur II on the Xbox and PS2.

This game was the peak of fighting games back then this game is amazing like its console it is just amazing both aesthetically both game wise, bc i was a ps1 owner and the internet didn't existed back then i was playing tekken 3 and street figther 2 in arcades (top 3 fighting games with soulcalibur) a friend of mine had bought a dreamcast and the only games he had was soulcalibur and sonic adventure which was single player and we had to play soulcalibur, i remember staying with him all night playing this game, a true experience and it still in 2023 it is amazing

Aha. According to the Metacritic ranking, Soul Calibur is the best fighting game of all time. First of all, this should show the low degree to which lists created with spongy "indices" serve as a criterion for judging the quality of computers or video games. Secondly, Soul Calibur is of course not a bad game, but in single player terms - like almost all DC beat em ups - it is completely irrelevant and boring after 2 hours. The sequels do a much better job of balancing the strengths and weaknesses of the characters. Don't be blinded by the ranking!

Me and my brother had a Dreamcast and Soul Calibur and this really really was special. I can understand the reviews as it was something unique and amazing learning these characters and the arenas at the time. The gimmick here was it was a fighting game with weapons. I used Seung Mina a pretty girl with halberd spear that excelled at range. By completing her story I unlocked a lot of her art and she definitely became ‘my’ character in the way people like Ryu of street fighter etc. I remember slick presentation, music, graphics, gameplay was state of the art. Hair would blow in the wind, voices were good, thematically was great etc. However over time and with subsequent entries and competition and things it’s not the same now. Unlike games like Mario and Zelda which are somewhat timeless, fighting games really evolved from this point. There’s no world where you should pick this up ahead of something else in 2022 unless you’re looking at history of fighting games or getting a Dreamcast for nostalgia purposes. But that first game on that console in that time, it was something special like I say. Hard to score on that basis, went with a 9 as that’s what it was when I played it, a 9 or a 10 even.

As a fighting game it's really good, but not for me. Just not enough meat on the bones.

Aún recuerdo cuando lo jugué la primera vez. Gráficamente era lo más espectacular que se podía ver en su momento y con una fluidez que asombraba. Todas las animaciones estaban detalladas y mimadas, un deleite para la vista. Los escenarios 3D eran espectaculares así como su banda sonora. Es un juego que podés jugar a día de hoy y notar que ha envejecido demasiado bien. Sin duda uno de los 10 mejores juegos de Dreamcast! P.D.: Recuerdo el modo como de presentación técnica que traía el juego donde podías ver personajes rotando sobre ellos, acercarte y alejarte y ver los rostros a u nivel de detalle nunca vistos.
