Pelit (Finland)
A decent action adventure with heavy emphasis on magical battles. It's almost a shooting game, which is a kind of disappointing. [Aug 2012]
Finally, a PlayStation Move game that seems to matter. It's a bit too short and also a bit too simple, but in the end you will remember this colorful platform game as an enriching Move experience.

As a single-player thing, Sorcery is just okay. You run, you stick your shimmering shield up if things get hairy, you wave spells at shambling horrors, and a lot of the time our boy Finn does something completely mental because the control scheme is a very delicate thing indeedily. It's simple but frenetic, with some surprisingly nutty moments and even nuttier boss battles. [July 2012, p81]

Sorcery is a Move Controller game like it should be: Different moves are implemented greatly into the game and the game itself is a rather short but very pleasing linear action adventure. The choosing of spells works by moving Move by different patterns and that is combined with shooting spells not in a game-gun style, but by snapping the wand to different directions and heights. The hero is controlled by the analog stick of the complimentary controller, meaning nunchuck-part or standard ps3 controller. The action is mixed with frequent and not to easy puzzles, that make your different spells, which become more and more as the games progresses, not only weapons for different enemies but also instruments to solve the puzzles. A real magical game. The downsides are just the short length of the game and that it is a not too easy, is this is a rather challenging game, but to simple for a tripple A game: there are not many layers of gameplay woven together. There is just action, looking for the way with nice graphics, puzzle, action again, buying and mixing new potions, peaces of story told and that again. That's not boring, it is a nice game, with good graphics and fun gameplay, but it won't bind you to your console for hours every day, like some other games do. But I really would have liked to see more games like this. It is definitely a hidden gem and to few Move games are as good with as good move-controlling! And using a move controller is, when it is as good implemented into gameplay, definitely more fun than playing with a normal one, the movements are just more immersing.

I don’t remember what the plot was about, how to play, but it was fun, I’ll just send the people that I played

A really underappreciated title, which is strange as it is a really good game, with solid story and characters. The only (small) problem is that casting spells can be a little monotonous as only a few are available in the game. The game is quite short itself, but still, if you want to play an actually competent MOVE title, Sorcery should be your best choice.

The best Move game available, and one of the best motion game experiences on any platform I've experienced.

Although it has a short campaign and lack of replay value, Sorcery is the best title for the PlayStation Move and it's full of quality.

I'm now a proud Move owner who has the best PSMove game ever made. The controls are as good as they can possibly be. The game isn't on rails, there are tons of areas to explore off the main path with treasure to find and puzzles to solve. The Boss fights are challenging and the higher difficulty settings make you really pay attention to how you use your spells. And just because the game is short doesn't mean you you don't have reasons to play it again; there are lots of achievements and alchemy recipies to try. I think the small number of negative reviews have been a result of not knowing how to use the controller. You don't have to "repeatedly pretend you are hitting a nail with a hammer", although if you want to play that way and be bored you can. I have a lot more fun swinging the wand sideways - like trying to skip a stone across water - to get my magic missiles to curve around stuff that enemies are hiding behind. Also, if you have been playing Wii games then you are probably at a loss for how the Move actually works... it's WAY more accurate and sensitive to how you hold it. If you want to shoot magic bolts up high, you actually have to AIM HIGH. Shaking it around like a rattle will get you nowhere, the game takes actual SKILL, which is a rare thing for games these days. The one drawback is that there is no multiplayer or co-op, but I guess that was never in the cards to begin with and you can't fault a developer for focusing on doing one thing well. And since I can't give it a 9.5, I guess I'll have to round up. :)

PlayStation Move has struggled to find defining software that justifies its existence, but Sorcery represents the most ambitious attempt yet. Its seamless integration of natural motion controls makes it the best example of Move's potential to date, and while the campaign lacks replay value, it's still worth experiencing if you want to put Sony's underutilised wand to use.

Sorcery is a charming adventure. But in the end you'll remember too much hectic destruction and too little mysterious magic.

Sold at quite a reasonable price, Sorcery is a very nice little game for kids, with nice music melodies, pretty environments, and fun gameplay mechanics. The PS Move still remains somewhat imprecise sometimes (even though the game does most of the targetting for you), but the most important shortcoming of the game is probably its lack of variety.

Aggravating combat overwhelms the elements that could have made Sorcery enjoyable.

Sorcery is a beautiful game; crafting, fighting and magic, what more can a person ask for? The environments and characters are fantastic, the game play is super fun, and the story holds my attention as I progress through each level. I finally have a good reason to own a PlayStation Move.

I both liked and disliked this game at the same time. I guess I liked the potential of the game and disliked that it was not made to my demographic. The first thing when i popped the game in i thought it seemed like a very childish game and to be honest i found it quite annoying made for children. After about 10 minutes I was impressed with the first enemies of the game and this made me interested in proceeding. I prefer hardcore games so it was important the enemies were interesting. The game never really caught on for me I do agree with several reviews that the gameplay is nothing more than waving your move controller around like striking a nail with a hammer. I wasn't too impressed with the games switching of spells either as some people complained. None the less the game was playable without too much aggravation and this game really did make me think there could be a future in move controllers. I actually enjoyed playing a game like this a different way and the controller added a nice feel to the game. I'm not sure i felt immersion but it was a fun new way to play a videogame. This fun was muted though by areas I felt were too linear and too kiddie. It was an interesing mix ****, being very easy and kiddie like but with the lure of neat enemies and a new controller methodology. The game was very short as well so there is some debate to me how much this game should cost. I bought it for only $4 in early 2015 and for that price im not too upset about the game. Had i payed above $15 i think i would have been very critical of this game. For what it is it is enjoyable and a bit easy and repetitive. To come out and say this is the future? Not so sure, but it did make me think that with some effort and more adult based graphics and chararacters the move contoller could make some pretty awesome games. Im thinking Resident evil, Dark souls and Silent hill would make better gaming with the move. Overall I would say this game was an entertaining light hearted game worth your 5 hours time for under $10. There really isn't too much to this game and its not mindblowing that everyone should try it but i did enjoy trying a new type of game and for the price this was a decent enough experience i do not regret trying.

What's there to say about Sorcery? It's decent. It IS indeed one of the better PS move titles but there aren't many good move titles so it's not saying a lot. I finished the single player in about 13-14 hours and well here are my final thoughts. The game can be incredibly boring at times. I am a big fan of playing as a mage in games that I have the option to do so but this one was just out there. I found little or no interest in both of our main characters, both voice actors aren't bad. I just thought they were too kiddish for my tastes. I do like the way every area looked the sprites were very colorful and vivid.. however... the linear dungeons felt like they dragged on forever to make up for the lack of areas in the game. The spell switching feels atrociously bad. What was wrong with a simple up down left right. Instead we have these circles, it made it difficult for me to switch to wind spells why does something like switching a spell have to seem so complicated at times. At first I thought ps move was not calibrated properly, this was not the case I calibrated several times and I still could not switch to this spell so after a while I eventually just spun the wand in circles until it would eventually come up by randomly swinging motions. Another problem is the alchemy thing, brewing up potions gets irritating. I don't want to do all these extra hand movements and act like I'm drinking an imaginary potion... I would have liked to see a tad more RPG elements too. Buying ingredients to make potions to beef you up in a way is ok but it didn't really make me feel very rewarded. I would've rather killed a bunch of enemies with fire to strengthen my fire spells. This is an ok game maybe people will disagree for better or for worse. There is reason to play it again after completing it since no NG+ so I don't even know if the 40 dollar price tag justifies this game, unless you really want trophies.

The voice acting is annoying, the framrate is awful and the game is very short. I remember when they showed this on e3 years ago and it looked good but this garabage was not worth the wait.
