Smooth Operators takes a significant time commitment to build up your company, but it will have its hooks in you long before then. This sort of cyclical design has flourished on smartphones and tablets already, and now removed from free-to-play constraints it progresses at a much more natural pace.

There's lots to like about the game though, not least because this is a paid-for tower-sim that's entirely free of in-app purchases. If games like Tiny Tower tickle your fancy, yet you find the unavoidable pay-to-advance elements distasteful, you'd be silly not to at least consider calling in on Smooth Operators.

A twee and entertaining sim, Smooth Operators isn't perfect, but it's deep enough to satisfy the call centre-running urges of most.

Ever wanted to run a call center? Probably not, but Smooth Operators! makes the experience a lot more interesting than the real thing!

It's hard to knock Smooth Operators for its complexity when most sims have been streamlined to the point where they're hardly interactive. Its biggest issues are early issues: there simply isn't much to do at the start, and you don't have the resources you need if things start to spiral out of control.
