I respect the ambition behind Silent Hill: Ascension, but the execution collapses. The pacing is erratic, the characters feel thin, and the writing rarely lands—draining tension from what should be a story-driven experience. Facial animation is especially rough and repeatedly breaks immersion. I would not recommend this to anyone - not even to diehard fans of Silent Hill.

Silent hill short message was one of the worst games I have ever played, until I remembered this game exists. It is a bad TV show that lies to you and makes you think that you are important in its story and the way it played out. You need a 30 dollar pass to do anything. Worst game I have ever played.

1 star for the graphics. But OMG this EMMY winning product is absolute ****!!! I'm writing this here because the devs turned of the Google reviews as they censored all their social media and even turned off the in-game chat. I felt compelled to warn other people as watching this as a fan made my brain bleed. I love silent hill and until dawn type experiences but i am shocked at how bad this is. The type of bad that you just don't see anymore. And to have such competency in certain areas alongside a story and script so poor it destroys all that comes before is heart breaking. Everything is confusing , pointless and nonsensical. It's like ai wrote and assembled it. This mess makes me want ai to take over!!! And what's truly inexplicable is clearly they had money and talent and ideas... But its all horribly squandered. What a waste. Sadly the experience launched buggy and the gameplay was minimal... oh who cares it's terrible! It's truly god awful even as a youtube video without the shameful monetization and puzzles. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! 1/10

Paywalled garbage and a waste of Silent Hill IP. if you guys wanted to make a series you should have pitch it to Netlix.

What a disappointment, pay 2 play, lackluster in everyway, what cheap way of a cashgrab. Unbelievable they release something like that and expecttl to make the franchise good with it. Hopefully the handle the other games better.

Maybe that true next gen interactive horror experience we were looking for was the microtransactions we made along the way.

The "game" from the beginning is what the creators announced, so I don't understand most of the criticism. I like the idea of ​​a community-driven storyline. The story develops interestingly. It pretty looks good. The game still suffers from bugs and glitches, but is constantly being improved by the developers.

This product sets a dangerous precedent in the monetization of streaming content. While I can see the importance of a community shaping a narrative together, only the whales who shell out cash in the 100s of dollars actually sway the story, which already labels its choices as Good, Bad & Neutral. I cannot see how this is considered a rewarding. IP aside, I would rather play a meaningful experience at full box price than support this predatory mess. Please do not support or watch this series. Watch it if you like it, but be warned, doing so is asking for more of this experience.

one point for (in theory) an interesting approach and the new idea in money making. sadly, everything else is just terrible and the creators should be ashamed of this making

A great game, because foreshadows the massively & overwhelmingly foreseeable fecal storm Capcom was waiting to unleash into poor SH fans this decade. Silent hill is dead beyond Kojima's project. They should have picked up the pieces, make a good public apology to fans and developers of PT and bring it back to development. At least one year after they effed up- Because now with the genre crowded of first person horror games inspired by PT is five times harder to reach success. If it wasn't to bring back Silent Hills into development, they shouldn't have took the hassle, or risked being the protagonists of the the tremendous fisco is coming ahead.

This is definitely a disservice to the community and fans of the Silent Hill franchise! It's technically grotesque and painful to watch

I would like to generously ignore the monetization aspects of this and talk about the core experience: a tv show, more or less. Silent Hill is a monument to the cinematic potential of games, so why not an animated series created by proven artists? The gimmick at the center of Ascension, which has been at the forefront of all the show’s promotion, is that the story is shaped by community engagement. The problem is that the story—like any piece of media—has to be a valuable experience, and it’s not. It’s riddled with lazy horror cinematography tropes. The minigames and “streaming” bells and whistles are distracting and corny. It is so poorly acted that I would not be surprised if some of the voices were AI-generated. Some of the characters’ behavior is so nonsensical it’s uncanny, and not in a good way. That the show is bad—sometimes fundamentally bad—hurts enough, but the community gimmick adds a feeling of insult. It’s as if the players are viewed as such simple pieces of market data that the lofty concept of “community” would override all of our taste, that we’d be bouncing in our seats like toddlers at whatever they put in front of us as long as it had that Silicon Valley sugar coating of “community.” It’s giving “Metaverse.” It seems to have been conceived in the minds of people who discover basic humanities concepts at the age of 30 and think they’re the first ones to have heard of them. People like Silent Hill games because they’re good art, so why can’t we just get some good art?

Great visual novel, fun QTE sections, amazing looking monsters. Buggy but they keep ironing out the bugs.

It's not only riddled with the most predatory micro-transaction I've ever seen but the actual "content" is awful; animations, voice acting, "gameplay" are all very very bad... This is how Konami brings back a beloved series after 10 years of inactivity, by shooting it in the head immediately.

I have watched the first five days of this and there is not a single thing I can say positive about it. Even if you ignore the cash grab nonsense of this thing, it fails as a game/series. The acting is awful, but to make it worse the character models make it worse, if one person is trying to convey an emotion the model is stiff. The qte's portion of the game if just boring and recycled from every episode, the monsters are ok, but every character has the same monsters, go through same animations to get away, sit on the same couch when done. The only fun part being the chat has been "broken since the first day". The model for you when making an account are lazy. same face man or woman, a few different option that do nothing. This entire thing is terrible. I wish it had the so bad it's good effect, or just so broken the glitches are funny to look at. The choosing options is garbage, cause they mess up and play the wrong thing, the bots to help with the qte to pass are a joke, since they are so buggy to begin with. The stickers are dumb, it's trauma is now just a meme. They needed to buy reviews on android for how bad this is. How long was this being worked on before it started, and it comes out as a lazy, boring, buggy mess. Again without saying anything about money in this. I don't expect the people who worked on this to be super fans of the games, but at least have some people watch the games being played, understand what made them so loved and try to put that into your project. I put more effort into this review they the Genvid entertainment joke squad did into the project.

An insulting experience that mocks the fans. It's a predatory narrative based game that aims to extract as much profit as possible from it's users. Ascension suffers from a very poor story, stiff animations, ChatGPT-like writing with robotic characters and bad performances throughout. This game is borderline unplayable and often breaks from technical glitches. On top of all this, their CEO Jacob Navok (Genvid) argued with users (including me) on Twitter for hours about why the microtransactions weren't bad. It was a jargoned mess of excuses blaming everything from Amazon AWS to even the fans for the game's poor direction. The public chat box on the game immediately descended into very inappropriate adult language and repeated use of the hard 'R' which went completely uncensored.

After this, I genuinely feel as though Konami's best business move would be to shut its doors forever. This is insulting to the fans, creators, and legacy of Silent Hill as a franchise, and while I will always love the first 4 games, I'm done. Konami has forever lost my support, both moral and financial. This was the last straw after many, MANY second chances.

This "game" doesn't deserve a 1. Degrading mockery of fans and gamers alike. Soulless, empty, hollow almost AI-like generated story and characters, not to mention the "gameplay".

It’s difficult to understand what is it. Whether it’s just a disaster or simply a mockery of Silent Hill fans. This game is my worst experience in many years. Better no game than this crap.

This is a grotesque experience in gaming. Everything about it is hideous, predatory and irredeemable. Essentially it's supposed to be an entry into the once beloved Silent Hill series in which the community make narrative decisions in episodic streams, with crappy QTE minigames in between. But wait! There's.. a battlepass? But why? So you can spend insane amounts of money on absolutely useless cosmetics for your self insert character and swaying votes in major plotline moments. Except, it seems the votes are rigged, or at worst pointless since it labels what the good choice is. It's bottom of the barrel in terms of quality. The animations ****, the story ****, it's making me question whether or not to even bother with the Silent Hill 2 remake if this is what their idea for a game **** you like stuff like this, play the TellTale games or something like Until Dawn (actually decent experiences)

Worst entry in the ENTIRE franchise, even including the movies. This was an accident which should never have happened.

huge silent hill fan, this is probably the most degrading thing ive ever seen a company do a with a beloved IP ever in gaming, decades of being dead the franchise comes back with the worse monetization in gaming we've seen yet, which is no small feat when every studio is rushing to see how far they can push microtransactions to there limit but a battle pass for a tv show? paying to be seen on a leader board for each vote? horrible the worse product to come to gaming this year and genvid is a menace to the gaming industry a scam
