The best fitness game around. [Feb 2015, p.79]
Its silly approach to fitness is amusing, but there isn't enough here to hold attention for an extended period of time, let alone train you up for a marathon. [Issue#156, p.121]

One of the very few great things that Kinect 2.0 has to offer, Shape Up has become a part of my daily routine due to working at home. It features stand-alone workouts as well as two "work out plans", regardless of whether you decide to organise your exercising personally or use one of the two pre-determined all-around programs, it still tracks your weekly progress, encouraging you to be consistent and providing some basic workout information. I might not like the artistic style of the "game", and I do think that there could be more content (luckily the reasonably priced season's pass doubles the number of things to do), but I cannot deny that it is a great way to get back into shape for those of us who don't like meaningless running, or simply need a break from office work. It also has a lot of achievements for those of you who like this feature, myself included. With Xbox fitness being removed from the store there is really no other alternative, but it is a good option for beginners as well as those looking for a bigger challenge. Recommended!

It works for me - a 43 year old who's lead a very sedentary life as an IT professional. I know it's not a technical marvel **** - it kind of reminds me of Sesame Kinect that my kids used to play. I picked up the game a year ago, and kept it stowed away. A recent physcial showed I am borderline diabetes, so I decided to dust this off and give it a go. 4 weeks in, with a change of diet and this I'm already down 12lbs. I've slowly gotten better with each passing training session. For a guy who wouldn't do aerobics in the gym, because let's face it, a fat guy doing aerobics is an eye sore. I've tried other workout programs in the past (Wii Fit for example). This one seems more fun and keeps me focused. It beats the elliptical, which usually has be bored to tears at this point. All in all, I think Shape Up is a great way to get into a daily exercise regimen. It may not be suited for those looking for an extreme workout - but I don't think that's what it's aimed at. My only concern is I see no real new content for it since I bought it a while back. I'm sure eventually it will get boring - but by then maybe I will be ready for a higher level routine.

Every fitness game claims to make keep-fit fun, but Shape Up actually succeeds.

BRO !!! Do you even Shape up ?!?!? I love it, first time a fitness game is actually fun and it's due to the graphics and the fact that a bunch weird stuff are happening while you play (never thought i could do a push ups carrying so much stuff on my back). In the end the fun makes it easy to practice for longer than you would actually do if you were exercising listening to the radio and staring at the walls. Even my girlfriend loves it and i'm pretty hyped about it because i see it as a way to get her to start playing and enjoying video games a bit more. I hope you guys will enjoy it as much as i do.

This is a very good fitness game. Fun to play and a 15 minute workout every day keeps it attractive. An issue I have the game keeps warning me it has difficulties seeing me although lightning conditions are good.

Behind the quirky and irresistible zany arcade mask lies a fitness game that proves to be demanding (in more than a way), questionable and even shaky tech-wise: the intentions might be good, the results not so much.

In all, Shape Up is a cool concept that doesn’t have nearly enough going for it to keep players hooked long term.

(Update) Finally I was able to play the game erasing my profile from the Xbox and then reinstalling it. the game is fun and it has a lot of different games that builds up for an amusing work. Cons: the Kinnect motion capture is slow, and the Glitches, the one that didn't let the game start and sometimes it throw you back to the dashboard in the middle of game. Ii is a real shame that we as users have to test various tricks to try and bypass the glitches in what should be a full working release game. Thanks for the note "RetroWhatWhat", didn't know Kinnect was necessary, must have been playing Just dance14-15, Xbox fitness and Zumba in front of the mirror. Who would have thought?

Cute game - But the KINECT has trouble picking up motion, so it kills the experience. For a next-gen console game, it's extremely slow - menus are slow, loading is slow, etc. Don't waste your money - Go run outside

Download version currently playable offline only for the profile that purchased it. When online, it crashes at the game's main menu, or after a couple of challenges. The ingame link to the Shape Up Coach website service is broken. It just leads me to the XBox Store. I made the mistake of buying the 3 month sub for the service when the website won't even let me log in or sync with my game. For the game crashing issue, check out the troubleshooting I've already done for this game. ****/1t0OT4P Been working with Xbox Support and Shape Up Support for the past several days and Xbox has given up and pointed me to Shape Up Support, while Shape Up Support keeps on telling me that they've fixed the issue already. The game is still crashing, and I still can't log in or sync with their $30 Coach addon. Only way I can play this is with my profile offline. I've already tried deleting my save data to start fresh, still crashes when online. I'll update this review if they fix these issues. >.
