They say the show must go on and in the Resistance world there are still questions to be answered, but the disappointing nature of this third instalment and its failure to deliver at retail most likely means this is the last release in the series. Perhaps such an end is the best option all round.

Resistance 3 does plenty. It's beautiful, thrilling, and-quite unexpectedly-contains one of the most memorable campaigns this side of Halo and Half-Life. In a year full of Sony-branded disappointments, Insomniac has produced an absolute gem.

As a conclusion to the franchise (no doubt pending an awkwardly justified fourth game and spin-offs), Resistance 3 manages to send it off as gracefully as possible.

Great way to end the franchise. Stop the last of the Chimera against unbeatable odds and use a new noteworthy protag. Combat is great, movement feels fresh like the last two games, and the story is a bittersweet ending but it stops the chimera and that's the direction the series was going.

El juego es increíble pero yo siento en lo personalmente que le falta algo para ser un 10/10 nosé como explicarlo pero aún así este juego es casi perfecto
5
The disappointing third game in the series with a different character that I just don't like and unfair mobs of aliens that are quick to wipe you out. This is an infuriating game despite the clear graphical advancements made here. It's a game I look at out of interest to play again only to be reminded how hard this game is. It's sad the creators took this too far and didn't focus on what would make this game better for the audience.

Resistance 3 should not be overshadowed by any other game this holiday season as it gives a unique and action-packed adventure from beginning to end.

All in all, Resistance 3 delivers a very enjoyable campaign with some incredible action sequences. Competitive multiplayer is quite well done, and adds quite a bit of replayability to this package. If you're a PS3 owner who loves first-person shooters, Resistance 3 simply shouldn't be missed.

One of the most beautiful, best and most enjoyable games I have ever played in my life. I hope it comes back again.

A more polished, playable and engaging game than Resistance 2. [Nov 2011, p.88]

Resistance 3 steps up to become the best game in the series, featuring a number of exciting weapons and beautifully designed levels. The horror elements mixed with the toned down story of one mans mission to make the world a better place for his family is thrilling and very enjoyable.

Wasting aliens done right. In Resistance 3 you've got a great and varied arsenal at your disposal, and you get to play with it in Insomniac's great levels.

Resistance 3 stands as a whimpering end to a franchise that never quite found its stride. With a little more risk and less reliance on the successes of its peers Resistance 3 could have become the jewel in Sony's crown.

This game has one of the absolute best shooter campaigns, it also comes with co-op mode. The weapon wheel returns and the weapon upgrade system is a really nice addition. Enemies are varied, health doesn't regenerate, graphics hold up well and cutscenes look amazing. Much better than most shooters out there for sure. The only thing I don't like is the rushed ending. Resistance is not over. Sony needs an FPS franchise! So many ideas can be made from the Resistance universe, from horror to open-world RPG to adaptations of the novels to stealth to military operations games.

Immediately on starting Resistance 3, and I do mean IMMEDIATELY, I instantly thought the game is just chasing trends, in this case Metro. It doesn't do a bad job but it doesn't do a good one either, it's more story focused and thats fine with me but some weapons, such as the Bullseye, are so weak harsh language would have more stopping power. I'd like to say Insomniac finally solved the problems of this series in the third game but with my playtime with it that is sadly not the case. Graphically the game is extremely impressive for a PS3 title improving even on Resistance 2 which in itself is impressive but after now playing all 3 games I don't see why this game was rated so highly, it's solid, but not especially memorable with a theme akin to War of the Worlds meets Quake, gameplay identity crisis from one game to the next never settling on a control scheme, and almost zero variety with 99% of the entire series being mow every enemy down in front of you with gun in hand. Resistance 3 is the worst offender in this regard only they dial the mobs up to 11 and it isn't fun, its fking infuriating playing the same section over and over and over and over again killing an absurd amount of enemies to the point you're literally taking out an entire fking army just to hit the next checkpoint. I'm fine with a game being hard but not when they cheapen it to the degree here by just throwing wave after wave after wave of enemies at you, some of which can literally shoot you through cover and when you're already fighting 15-20 enemies with almost laser-like accuracy from extreme range (this includes enemies with just assault rifles) and stealth in the game being highly broken (once one enemy sees you thats it - the rest are coming for you) is just **** of the highest order. I'm glad this series is dead.

DANGER ! The update of the game corrupted the ps3... be very carefull. The update create a "corrupted data", and it's no easy to retrieve the system. I don't want to redo the installation but there is a solution. First : Install the game without the patch (push O to cancel), play the intro of the game. Second : re-launch the game and accept the update.

It's not often that I feel the need to write a review about a game but I did this time because my expectations were so high for Insomniac on the handling of this and it ended up falling FAR below my expectations. The campaign side of the game is solid but not particularly innovating. If the game were that alone I would rate this a solid 7 and maybe even an 8... but throw in the complete mess of multiplayer and I can't help but rate that portion as a 1 or even a big fat ZERO. As sad as it may be in the FPS world today multiplayer is the big determining factor for replayability but this just seemed like 2 steps back from R2. If you feel like you can just jump right in and play the multiplayer you are in for a shock. Get ready to see beautiful scenery and bright flashes of light, color, and skills that can blow your mind and probably confuse you until you can create your custom load out with the video demos of what each thing does. Insomniac couldn't be bothered to print the descriptions of each skill in the manual so for the first few levels you'll be completely lost on what each thing does unless you research it online or watch the demos. Unfortunately, the pretty scenery doesnt get you anywhere when the gameplay is so lacking. The main issue I find is that the lag is insane. To make this worse it's not network lag, it's graphical lag. The PS3 just simply cannot handle all the flashes and effects when 3 or more players are congregated in close proximity. You can forget about getting a bead on someone's head while aiming down the sights with anything but the sniper rifle due to the jerky movements and lost frames when your PS3 is chugging along trying to put everything in it's proper place. You think that person you've unloaded your entire carbine clip into is standing in front of you but really they've already one shotted you from the side by an atomizer or shotgun. That brings up the second major issue. There is VERY little skill involved with the gameplay and has more to do with the dedication of time getting past that low level grind so you can get weapons that will utterly demolish people. I can't even count the number of times I have died without understanding how it happened. I will see and hear no gunfire, receive no warning, and be immediately dead due to either a glitch or a skill/weapon that gives an enormous advantage over lower level players. Can you imagine sitting there with a weapon that can take up to 30 shots to kill someone versus another player that is invisible, undetectable by radar, shielded, and is carrying multiple one shot kill weapons or can see you and fire through walls? All this said the game has potential to be fixed through updates. Its impressive to look at and with a little tweak in balancing my review could be seriously re-evaluated. In doing research online a lot of the people that played the beta and other pre-finalized versions stated the frame rate issues were not nearly as bad but still present. Pros - Beautiful to look at. Creative weaponry and skills. Good, Solid story. Cons - Graphical lag via lost frames. No explanation of multiplayer skills from the beginning. Unbalanced weaponry and skills.
