Extremely underrated gem - If you're a Pokemon fan, you're definitely missing out. Give it another try if you were turned off by the awful launch. Fully F2P friendly. I've typed out a full review but I'm getting 404'd for some reason.

Another mobile Pokemon game for micro transactions that ruin the main console pokemon games

The game is incompatible with most new Android devices that you can't even download the game to play. And the worst part, the developers of this game at DeNA Co. would blame your device for the games incompatibility issue. The game is also utter rubbish and craps on Pokemon fans and is just a generic gacha game (another name for microtransactions-based games) with Pokemon skin that preys on rich kids to spend money! Never spend money on this game, it will literally gobble and eat up your money and give you some of the most abysmal gacha rates that you will ever see in gaming history! Sad that the Pokemon Company keeps ruining their reputation by releasing more and more lackluster and downward quality game apps like this garbage! If you like the Pokemon franchise, don't play this! You will start to hate Pokemon and the greedy Pokemon company that runs the business! If Pokemon Unite is bad, this is far worse! The developers couldn't even be bothered to fix the game's incompatibility issue with new Android phones using 32-bit OS like the Samsung Galaxy A10. And if you try to flash your phone with a 64-bit OS, they will block your phone out as it is considered a rooted device! The game also does not work on 64-bit OS emulators because DeNA Co. wants to make sure only real rich people with physical high-end phones can play the game because they only want to milk the rich people. Others are considered poor commoners! What a garbage game from incompetent developers like DeNA Co. that even fan-made Pokemon games are better! The people giving good reviews for this game are rich Whales who spent tons of money on this broken game so of course they enjoy it! This game is a Pay-To-Win game and absolutely not free to play! The game is predatory in it's approaches in getting people to spend real-money in the game and rewarding them with trash 1-star Sync pairs! No skills required, just money in order to win! Pure rubbish game! Take my word for it!

I suppose anyone who already played this kind of game (gacha) might've enjoyed the initial generous drop ratings for certain items and units, but honestly the game was always so barren of any content it barely would make a difference for your enjoyment of the game. The gameplay always felt so repetitive and dull in the easy parts (most of it mostly left to the auto button), while the hardest parts of the game were just boring grinding the same endurance tests of your units over and over again. Even worse when it was coop required, with close to zero communication capabilities available in online gameplays. You can't write to your allies, you can't talk to your allies, you can only send images with short action texts like "Defend" or "Attack". Speaking of fights, the Enemies are pretty much HP sponges. Difficulty in this game is dictated by how much damage you can dish against those HP sponges. If you have heavy hitters like Red, then you don't even need to worry about weaknesses or any sort of strategy at all. That's how unbalanced this game is. I mentioned repetitive content, by the way. Unfortunately, that's every single mode of this game in a nutshell. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. To fix this problem, DeNA is doing only one change: implement a stamina bar to limit the amount of times you can play certain modes. I need say no more. By now you probably already understand this game is pretty bad as far as gameplay goes, but maybe you might say: I'm playing for the characters, not the gameplay! (I would know, I thought that way once) If you're playing for the characters, then I have bad news for you: characterization in this game ranges from terrible to nonexistent for the most part. They either just drop some lore facts for certain characters without anything particuraly new, give them generic ultrafriendly personalities or allow limited interactions between them if any at all. Most characters only get one special event related to them in their "A Day With..." segment, while others might get evolution events where they face short battles against some other trainer for bland reasons. Maybe now you will say: but I play the game for the Pokémon! Not only are the Pokémon in this game more simplified mechanically-wise than the original games, but quite often most are inviable to play with outside of a select few. If you have favorites that aren't one of the mons given focus by this game, then get ready to forget them if you want to be able to win fights and advance in the gameplay modes like Battle Villa. Most mons will be useless even if you up your mons to the max level, activate their grids (when they have grids!) and get all the items(gears and cookies) to upgrade them. As far as interacting with your Pokémon, I'm afraid to say there is close to nothing for that. Pokémon are pretty much lifeless in this game, as the focus is (supposedly) on the trainers who barely get any content themselves. I finally woke up after close to one year waiting for actual content and meaningful changes. I finally realized this game's main problem is DeNA itself. By a mix of bad decisions and sheer incompetence, they managed to disappoint and degrade the potential of what could've been a game capable of rivaling even juggernauts like GO.. The potential was there, but DeNA made all the wrong choices with their game events and gameplay design. Now Masters is effectively forgotten by more than 90% of its initial playerbase. It is not the worst game ever even if my score might make you think that way, but truth be told: as a Pokémon gacha, it should be doing far better than this. One of the most valuable franchises in the world cannot possibly have a charmless mess like Masters as its gacha. My recommendation to anyone who might've finished reading this or just want me to go straight to the point: go play another game and keep waiting for the day a good Pokémon gacha will be made, because it is yet to happen.

Not bad, but not great. The gameplay is super, suuuper simple - like 'this won't keep most people entertained unless you are a little kid' simple. Not to mention the game is very gacha based (as in you don't pick what you want - most characters/pokemon are decided from a lottery outside of some story based ones) so forget about 'catch'em all!'. I appreciate all the throwbacks to all the older games and the models and stuff are nice, but if the game play isn't good nothing else matters so it really depend on how easy you want your games.

This needs to be regulated. Using a children IP with paid micro-transactions that resemble gambling. To get a specific unit you end up spending hundreds of dollars. I know of people spending thousands already. Something needs to be done about it. For the love of god put the effort to regulate these type of games.

An amazing game full of amazing characters from past Pokemon games. I see Everyone saying that it's trash but it very easy to see that Pokemon Masters is their first gacha and doesn't know how the genre works, overall pretty good game.

This game is an absolute boring pile of filth. All the money went into making the graphics look nice and crisp. Underneath the fun, bubbly presentation is a dull game with no deep mechanics that other gacha games offer. Its also pay to win. Win what you ask? Nothing of value. No pvp. No real challenge. No incentive to keep playing. Please skip this game and WHATEVER YOU DO DONT SPEND ANY MONEY

Nice graphics and story. But boring gameplay... maybe good for young kids. I only got a few hours in then couldn't go on any longer.

This is a good mobile Gacha game, it does its thing right the gacha is compensating, I see Everyone saying that it's trash but it very easy to see that Pokemon Masters is their first gacha and doesn't know how the genre works, overall pretty good game.
