Overall: 6/10 (not recommended) Time to complete story: 3 hrs (Medium reading speed) Story: 6/10 ~ you're just sitting there, reading and waiting along with the characters ~ no choices or interaction Characters: 6/10 ~ fairly realistic, but not interesting, compelling, or discussed in-depth Art: 5/10 + most of the cutesy art is unlocked and available in a CG gallery before playing ~ very simplistically drawn, especially the background to the female character - a lot of locations and events were described without being shown or bringing any change to the visuals (such as locations or activities on Earth, or the dreams mentioned) Audio: 5/10 - very light, simplistic, and repetitive Gameplay/UI: 7.5/10 + lots of saves available, although very excessive for the novel length ~ most of the standard VN features are available ~ text size option would've been nice Score comparison: VNDB: 6.5/10 (73 votes) HLtB: 7/10 (5) Steam: 96% positive (250)

Palinurus is a short kinetic novel made for the nanoreno 2015 vn jam. It has literary value to it and would be well worth reading as a printed short story. It reminds me of a radioplay written in 1962 by M.L.Kaschnitz(1). The main character, Budapest, is endearing on all levels of her personality; CG and artwork are simple but well drawn and incredibly cute. There's a (kind of) open ending that will make most readers ponder on the topics of Palinurus. It certainly did for me. 10/10 Palinurus simply is a must read!
