I grew up playing D&D and designed my own board games often focusing on minimalism and getting rid of clutter. I also played a lot of ARPGS like Diablo. Thus, this game fit my interest highly. It is bug free which is great as I've played a lot of PC board game adaptations and bugs are very annoying, sometimes making the game unplayable. I love the progression system that reminds me of a video game. If you cannot succeed, you got some experience points that will give your character new skills and a chance to beat it the next time. Though not perfect, it is obvious the developer spent a lot of time balancing the characters and game play. The Good: The game has so much addictive fun in it. You are trying to efficiently build a character strong enough to beat a boss and there are varied strategies to do so and a lot of variety. The progression system is like a video game and is a well-executed innovation for a board game. You get much of the D&D, Diablo, Descent experience in a shorted period. I was obsessed with the game and longing to get back to it. The Bad: 1. it is very fiddly, having a lot to keep track; there are many times where one might think if this skill is used in this particular situation, what happens; i did not understand what this skill or card does, what this environment effect does, what this symbol means, etc. Luckily, the game sorts most of that out for you. 2. Thematically, slowly analyzing dice and skill combinations does not thematically with action packed hacking and slashing. 3. Two-player is not that much fun as a solo PC game versus the one player rules. 4. I've heard some say it is too random but you can customize the difficulty so that you are winng most of the time and not failing most of the time.
