Okko The Exiled

Okko The Exiled is a simple game that quickly establishes what it wants to be, but it wins you over with solid controls, beautiful visuals, a compelling setting, and a story featuring some likable characters. Its gameplay could make better use of its mechanics’ potential, but it remains enjoyable enough when the campaign isn’t dragging things out.

Okko the Exiled is a fantastic retro action-adventure affair. The level design is interesting, and I loved the monsters and huge bosses. Each encounter tests your skills, and the central hub offers a haven and some challenging moments. Despite the positives, I cannot ignore the clunky controls. This was frustrating and something that prevents it from truly reaching its potential.
