I wasn't sure what to expect with Ninja Gaiden 4 at first, as it felt like there was no way for the game to live up to all of its expectations. The more I play and spend time with the game, though, the more I fall in love with it. The combat is a perfect evolution that maintains everything I love about Ninja Gaiden, while also incorporating the accessibility and convenience of modern game design. The camera and targeting system can be annoying at times, but more often than not, those concerns fade away as I get into a groove and carve up enemies with my favorite weapons. This is the gold standard for fast-paced, high-octane, 3D action games. I just hope we don't have to wait another ten years for the next one.
Ninja Gaiden 4 proves that the long wait for Ryu Hayabusa’s return was worth it, delivering an experience that feels familiar while evolving its combat in compelling ways to offer a hack-and-slash that is fun, challenging, varied, and highly replayable.
Delete all the fake 0s please. I do not get the hate this game receives, for real. Its one of the best action games on the market, alongside Devil May Cry 5. People these days...
Unity truly makes strength, and the collaboration between Team Ninja and PlatinumGames hits the mark. Despite a few minor flaws, Ninja Gaiden 4 stays true to the spirit of the series, enriching it with new mechanics that clearly bear the signature of the Bayonetta team. The result is a spectacular, technical, and varied combat system that delivers immense satisfaction once fully mastered.
Ninja Gaiden 4 is a powerful return, imperfect but full of character, capable of making us forget the years of silence with a combat system that borders on perfection in its fluidity and ferocity. The union between Team NINJA and PlatinumGames works: the action is brutal, visceral, and visually stunning, with an artistic direction that transforms Tokyo and its nightmares into a kabuki theater of soft lighting and blood. A clear limitation is the linearity of the maps and the repetition of enemies and bosses, which end up diluting the pace, making the second half of the adventure more tiring than exciting. Ninja Gaiden 4 has plenty of character and confirms itself as an aesthetically captivating game, but incapable of maintaining the tension it promises in its best moments. A convincing new beginning, even if it's not yet the masterpiece fans have been waiting too long for.
Ninja Gaiden 4 is beautifully made, blisteringly fast and defiantly old-school in its approach to combat and design. No rules are broken or rewritten, but fans and newcomers will find joy in the game's aggressive, approachable gameplay.
Ninja Gaiden 4 delivers fast and furious action that will have you hacking and slashing through demons and cybernetic soldiers in a fun and satisfying way, but its overuse of gimmicks in its level design, lack of variety of weapons, and flat story keep this from being a game that will leave a lasting impression.
Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2 were famously difficult but always felt fair—a rare and rewarding balance that few games achieve. Unfortunately, this latest entry abandons that philosophy. Instead, it follows the modern trend of creating artificial difficulty by inflating enemy and boss damage while diminishing the player’s. The result is a less satisfying challenge, more frustrating imbalance. The camera is one of the biggest issues. It constantly works against the player, often obscuring your view of the action—something that feels straight out of the early 2000s. Combat, while fast-paced, lacks the flow and precision that defined Ninja Gaiden Sigma 1 and 2. There are simply too many combo options, most of which are impractical in real encounters. While it plays better than Ninja Gaiden 3, that’s faint praise. Traversal elements like wall-running and railing sections are clunky and bug-ridden. The controls feel inconsistent, breaking immersion in moments that should feel fluid and exciting. The environments are uninspired, repetitive, and dated. Even on the highest settings, the graphics look like they belong to a much older title. On the bright side, the game supports 120 FPS, which complements the fast-paced combat and helps the action feel smoother. The new protagonist is bland, cliché, and completely forgettable. It’s baffling that the developers didn’t simply continue with Ryu Hayabusa—especially since Ninja Gaiden was never about its story. The attempt to add deeper character drama feels hollow and unnecessary, as the narrative contributes little to the overall experience. Boss fights, traditionally a weak spot for the series, have somehow gotten worse. They feel scripted, tedious, and more about memorizing patterns than reacting dynamically. Fighting groups of enemies remains far more engaging and rewarding than slogging through these drawn-out encounters. True Ninja Gaiden fans will likely be disappointed by this change in direction. The game tries to modernize the formula but loses the essence that made the originals special. Fast action and high frame rates can’t hide the uninspired design and lack of polish that permeate nearly every aspect.
This game belongs in the past, but not in a good way. Mediocre. Bland. Repetitive. Would be innovative if the whole nj series never existed.
In an age where DMC has reached such heights, this is just an old game, on a new console. Very sad day for gaming. This should have been better. But it is not.
Let the 5000 players on steam play it and the devs to realise that this is a sad excuse of a new release.
