Another Artifex Mundi game to review, and as you may be aware I love these type of game’s. Nightmares from the Deep 3: Davy Jones is the newest game out on Xbox One and it may just be my most favourite game Artifex Mundi has created so far, which is great. The story in the game is absolutely brilliant from the get go, and the ending of the series was done to perfection in my opinion. I was also very pleased to see the return of the additional chapter and not only does it fit with the main story really well it also gives the game a decent length to it. As always the gameplay was as fun as ever and the puzzles were some of my favourite I’ve ever played in an Artifex Mundi game. The main thing that stands out about the puzzles is the amount of variety each one has and this makes things stay fresh throughout. I will say though that some of the solutions to certain puzzles don’t make sense and I would have liked them to be a little more believable. Once again the hidden object games are present and they’ve finally managed to mix these games up. Each hidden object game has been cleverly designed and in some ways they have a uniqueness to them. If you’re not fond of the hidden object style then you can play mah-jong instead so a lot of people are catered for. The presentation side of the game is once again very well done. Visually the game looks great and it feels alive in all areas, which is great because there is quite a lot of backtracking included so the visuals do help things from becoming too tedious. The sound design is also very good and it has a lot of immersion present and that’s mainly down to the good job the voice actors did with the story. At the end of the day Artifex Mundi has shown that it can still improve in certain areas and this without a doubt will make more people try out their games. Nightmares from the Deep 3: Davy Jones probably goes down as my favourite game so far and it brought with it an interestng conclusion to an interesting series. Fans of these types of games will once again fall in love and I can’t wait to see what Artifex Mundi comes up with next.
