Fluffy ultraviolence. [Sept 2010, p.79]

It's fun at the beginning and fun online, but the flaws soon catch up with it and hurt the experience. With some updates this game could be really good, but right now there's just too many flaws to enjoy it.

Naughty Bear was an exciting and engaging game that I had enjoyed from beginning to end. The game mechanics were solid and I enjoyed destroying and stealing presents and machinery, just to watch other townsfolk bears barricade themselves in their respective households. Imagine GTA if you were a bear, but then it actually wasn't GTA and just a bear game where you destroy other bear's lives and run from the bear police. Even if it lacks any publicity, it is still a great game that you should all buy.

In the end Naughty Bear just isn't very durable, and after a few hours of play starts to resemble the rather forlorn, moth-eaten teddy bear you abandoned in your youth.

Naughty Bear works as a crazy idea, but not as a full-priced video game.

Naughty Bear sold itself to a lot of customers by pretending to be adult, gritty and brutal. In fact, it's childish, facile and more pointless than manning the phone-lines for the Rob Green retirement fund. Avoid at all costs, or at least wait until it's inevitably slashed in price if you're really desperate for some sledgehammer humour and cheap Gamerscore.

The game isn't very good, and can't even be considered a decent time waster. It fails to be enjoyable or fun to play, and despite trying incredibly hard, fails to give gamers a hook to keep coming back for more. I don't often wish for my time back after playing a video game, but Naughty Bear was easily one of the worst games I've ever played.

Between the vomit-cam, the absurd level design, the serious lack of content and the simplistic gameplay, it's clear to see that the developers have created something that should never have left the drawing board.

I find this game hilarious, twisted, and pretty damn fun. But it is extremely repetitive, and therefore gets boring kinda quick. I do love the narrator though, he amuses me to no end. The death scenes are great the first few times you see them, but they do get old fast. It's a decent game to play if you just need to kill some time.

It's an okay game, but the AI is kind of broken, the camera is awful, and the FR drops sometimes. My huge problem is the rating. This is like GTA violence. It's an okay game to say the least.

Diabolical to say the least. The narrator sounds like the demented and sturdy host of Little Charlie Bear. And very VERY strange that he shouts out a corny name for the death that occurs. Not to mention, the deaths are repeated over, and over, and over. Good thing is that you got some free roaming

This game was fun for a couple of hours. After this the humor wears thin and the game gets very repetitive as you repeat the same levels over and over again.

This seems to have slowly gained a cult following in the last year or so, especially after the release of Dead by Daylight's Naughty Bear outfit for The Trapper. I decided to return to it myself to see whether it's warranted or not. After playing through it, I understand why it was poorly received at the time of its release and is another cautionary tale of revisionist history that many gamers have with lackluster games they played or saw in the 2 for 1 bins growing up. It feels like a lot of people have nostalgia from playing it as a kid and only remember the positives instead of the filler that dragged on. I love the concept of it and it's fun at moments, but there wasn't enough substance or variety for me to want to keep playing after an hour or so. It got repetitive and tiring fast and the new enemy types, gameplay mechanics, story beats, and cutscenes they introduced in later levels still felt identical to one another. Not to mention how they really held themselves back from being as extreme as it should've been. There were so many things they thought were so unique for the time, but were done better in many other games and felt vanilla compared to them, such as the exhausting narrator. They tried riding off of the cool premise alone and was one of those ideas that shouldn't have been greenlit. It isn't completely worthless and there are some gameplay mechanics that are pretty good for 2010. You can definitely see some of the passion and the similarities to Dead by Daylight. However, it isn't enough to warrant a purchase or consider it to be anywhere near a competent game.
