I was so disappointed by this game, the game is not scary at all due to the overuse of chase sequences and jumps scares, and it doesn't help that the jump scares are a lot tamer compared to the first game, the art style also is another reason why the game is not scary at all in my opinion, it's not bad but I liked the more crud sprites in the first game because it helped making it more creepy and unsettling, however, this game's more refined art style is just another reason why I don't find it scary. Your also in a mansion now which just gets rid of the claustrophobic feeling in the first game, the mansion setting is also very generic. The stealth sections are also very tedious and boring, the game does not add anything to make it feel less stale, plus it's such an overused mechanic in this game. I was also disappointed by how you don't hide away from the new plushies (Ms. Bo and Mr. Stripes) which was the biggest thing I was excited for in this game, until the end of the game. Before then you're just hiding from the matrons, who are not scary at all. Deaths are also typically very unfair and most of them come with NO warning. Another thing I was disappointed by is that the game doesn't add anything new to the first game's mechanics, and what it does add barely makes a difference, the music is also pretty forgettable. There are things I enjoyed about the game though, I like all the lore it adds into the series and I also like the voice acting, all the voice actors did a great job and they should get a raise. I really wanted to like the game but couldn't, it's a massive disappointment that fails to be a horror game.

This game is not great... it's levels are tediously long and getting killed sends the player a long way back as checkpoints are infrequent. Furthermore, most deaths you will experience are cheap and unfair. The horror atmosphere that was prevalent in the first game is ruined when the player realizes that the majority of scares are part of predictable scripted sequences. The only saving grace of this game is the production value. The game has good voice acting and impressive art.

Mr Hopp’s Playhouse 2 (2021) review: a perfect prequel. Mr Hopp is back, and he has brought us even more unexpected moments: more cutscenes (with more perspective), more gameplay length (about 1 hour), better graphics, more monsters, voice actors (which did a great job) and chapters!!! I literally couldn’t believe the ending: it made so much sense as it answered many of my questions I had in my mind after I had played the first game. I did expect a sequel, but instead, we all got a prequel, which was a perfect idea! We also get to play mini games and buy more costumes! Literally cool! Although the medallions (hidden coins) were EXTREMELY hard to get once we touched them (and some moments of the game frustrated me), there is no doubt in playing this perfect prequel. Well done, MOONBIT,
