While there’s nothing else out there that can deliver the thrill of racing across this vast city and scaling massive buildings using insane parkour techniques, the sense of wonder isn’t as strong as before. Catalyst is held back by a horrendous combat system and a lackluster story that takes itself too seriously. If you can get past its flaws, you’ll find Mirror’s Edge Catalyst is still a modest platformer.

Catalyst is an example of how bigger doesn't always have to mean better. Some games don't benefit from becoming an open world adventure and should stick to what worked well, even amazing in the original. Catalyst unfortunately, traded quality for quantity.

The game's huge assortment of side missions and time trials, along with Gridnode runs, represent its most appealing offerings as you hone your route and - for the most part - focus on nothing but running. [Issue#296, p.108]

It's not as good as the first game in my opinion but it's still beautiful in it's own right as well as expanding on the parkour and combat and while both don't feel as fluid as the first it's still a great addition

I finished Mirror's Edge Catalyst as one of the picks this month in the Game Pass Game Club. It was alright I guess. I really liked the traversal through the city, and the open world which left multiple paths to choose. Getting in the zone with a big run was super nice, and the big set piece missions were exciting to go through. The visual style was nice and still holds up pretty well even though it's a bit old now.I finished the original but ages ago so didn't remember anything from the story, but apparently this is more of a reboot of the story, which I didn't know until just now, haha. The story was just serviceable I guess, it didn't seem to draw me into caring very much about what was going on. The ending was disappointing for sure, open ended trying to leave it for a sequel to resolve it, which we never **** combat parts that were forced in a few areas left me a little stumped and I had to look up some strategies of how to properly handle them to continue. I guess it was sort of obvious after I read, but oh well. And I neglected to take the fast climb upgrade which got me almost stuck in one part where I was struggling to get away from some gun fire fast enough.I only did a handful of the side tasks, but there were a ton of them scattered over the map if you were really into it. As is, it took me around 10 hrs to finish which was plenty for me.

Faith runs with freedom in a game that feels as fresh as the original and gives a step forward in every aspect. If parkour is a religion, DICE is its particular Holy See.

Mirror’s Edge Catalyst drops the ball here and there but the City of Glass and the parcours-gameplay are good enough to leave a lasting impression.

Eight years after, unlike the always on-the-run Faith Connors, Mirror's Edge finds itself in the same, exact place we left it. Unfortunately, DICE promised something more. Like the original, Catalyst is the ultimate expression of virtual parkour, but it never manages to create a real connection with the player.

A beautiful, open world and exhilarating parkour action just manage to cover up some irritating shortcomings in Mirror's Edge: Catalyst.

Cliche story and awful storytelling, boring open word design, gross fight system and far from fulfill expectations… In brief; fans wanted a better Mirror’s Edge game, and DICE couldn’t it.

If thinking about freerunning puts a smile on your face, this is the game for you. If you are looking for a good story or a diverse world however, Catalyst is not for you. Mirror's Edge deserves more love than this.

Mirror’s Edge Catalyst was an answer to intense fan demand for a new game, and that seems to be all it is. Catalyst has nothing to say and less than nothing to add to its genre. Unimaginative and repetitive, with a story that goes absolutely nowhere, Catalyst serves only as a way to waste some time if there’s nothing better to play...It’s not offensive, and it’s not an actively bad time, but it’s so very bland and uneventful. I can’t really speak for the developers, but Catalyst certainly gives the impression that they’d rather be working on literally anything else.

MEC was and is the perfect combination of parkour and fight and the PG go into detail not very well but they have the have own role in the lore that's for sure with Faith (the main protagonist). this is the way i love so much this video-game and I reccommend it.

Dice's long awaited sequel to the cult classic Mirror's Edge may not completely live up to expectations, but it's ultimately a solid enough effort that is nowhere near as deserving of its hate, even if it is ultimately a bit of mixed bag. Mirror's Edge Catalyst offers the same strong core mechanics as its predecessor, with some well designed areas, though Catalyst trades in its individual level structure for an open world design which does detract from the best aspects of the original game. The open world check list of objectives, and the repetition of going through the same areas over an over drag the overall game down. Still, there's fun to be had in Mirror's Edge Catalyst, and just like the first game, it's a brief enough experience where it doesn't wear out its welcome. Catalyst's poor reception may have once again put this franchise on the shelf, which is a shame, as I do hope we can revisit Faith and her journey again someday.

I personally really enjoyed the game and have replayed it several times, but in my replays I encounter new shortcomings. There's definitely fun to be had, though some of it is on the player to be creative rather than the map itself. Combat can be fun, though there is far too much cheese.

When I played it for the first time I enjoyed the movement and the parkour didn’t really care about the story but I recently played it and the gameplay wasn’t that great and the story was ordinary and there is so many side missions that wasn’t necessary and so many bugs and glitches.

Great **** I give it a 4 out of respect.
Nothing to do with 1, in which the missions were linear and fun, to survive you had to flee from the police doing parkour but not in this one, since many times (many) you will have to fight against them, see if they have given you importance that there are even upgrades and combat skills. Also, for some stupid reason they have decided to completely change the look of the game and make it futuristic with absurd technology.
The story seems to me at least regrettable and extremely forgettable, the characters have given me a **** **** at no time have I had even a minimum of empathy with any of them.
The only good thing about the game that improves on the previous one in addition to the graphics and movements is the free world, which was lacking in the first one.
In summary, if you have played the first one, I do not recommend it at all, but if you are new to the series, you might like it (although it is difficult).
