Thankfully, the game is largely bug-free, and it runs on a wide variety of computers with little problem.

I liked many new features and I think going back to the roots of the series was a the right decision. Unfortunately it seems the game was published half a year too soon, as it’s underdeveloped, full of bugs (some of which are very serious) and has performance issues. To put it simply – Heroes VII was botched. [12/2015, p.34]
Might & Magic Heroes VII tries to appeal to the passionate audience of the series, but fails due to issues with the AI, several bugs and a general lack of elegance. We can only hope in a future patch that fixes the many technical problems, still unsolved after 1.2 version.

Um jogo que é possível se divertir jogando, porém não reflete a qualidade e majestade que a franquia HoMM já teve um dia.

I consider myself more of a casual but experienced HoMM player, having played mostly HoMM 2 and 3, but I’m familiar with all the games except the first one. All of them, in my opinion, have their own qualities. However, this one is, in my opinion, by far the weakest one, unfortunately, and I thought I’d give my honest opinions on why (instead of simply saying it is bad because it is not HoMM 3 etc..). One of the few redeeming qualities, in my opinion, is the somewhat interesting campaign story and how you can play the campaigns in any order you want. But just after a few missions, you realize that the scenarios feel very railroaded and boring, and the AI is not very challenging or competent, and that's when it starts to fall apart... Railroaded campaigns are not necessarily bad, but when the game feels bland, repetitive, and not very well-paced as well, it becomes more of a chore than a game, unfortunately. It is a shame, therefore, that all the ingredients of a Heroes of Might and Magic game are present. It’s just executed in a fashion that makes for a very lackluster and average gaming experience, and somehow the graphics (though pretty at times) fall short compared to the 6th installment. Another thing that comes to mind is the new flanking mechanic, which at first feels like a good addition (and it might be to some degree), but it makes the creatures constantly move around each other in every single battle, just to get behind one another... It gets old quickly and feels like it was not very well thought out to begin with. My conclusion is that if you want a challenging, interesting Heroes of Might and Magic game before the olden era is released, you won’t find one here. I'd rather play the 5th or 6th of the recent ones; this one barely even brings anything new compared to the older ones anyway. Maybe the 7.5 mod could change my opinion of this game, but I just can’t be bothered since the base game is so bland and just isn’t engaging enough for someone who enjoys more of a challenge. Maybe if you play these games more casually and find the story interesting, it could be worth your time, bugs and glitches in single player seems pretty non existant nowdays, atleast from my experience, therefor I´d give it a 5/10.

Fight, level up, explore, conquer, build. Even after 20 years this still manages to glue you to the screen. Incredible.

It's a game dedicated to fans of the saga, and the lack of a tutorial speaks for itself. On the other hand, in a single box, you'll find all the traditional gameplay of the Might and Magic Heroes brand.

I decided to write my first comment ever I about any game after reading all these negative reviews. I played all games in series and none came even close to HoMM 3. All after that were very dissappointing. Until now. First bad things... I play game with patch 1.6 and yes, there are bugs. I have encountered especially inventory issues and missing creatures in a fight mode (there is workaround for that). I don't like longer loading times either and cutscenes are really poor for this age. But that is about it... So far I have finished two campaigns - Haven and Necro and played two single scenarios. I love this game... It is hugely entertaining and addictive. Finally I feel desire to discover and conquer like I haven't felt for a long time. I love castle buildings and structure. I love hero development. I even love campaign stories eventhough I don't care much about those. I think in-game graphic is very good and gameplay perfect. I am enjoying every moment spent with the game and surely will play it for a long time. So I would say, if You like HoMM 3definitely go for this one. I see that absolute majority of negative revies are from very early released game and from my current experience i must say yes, there are issues which shouldn't be, but perfect gameplay makes up for every single one of them. And who gives a **** about poor cutscenes??? This is not what this game is about... I f you are a fan of cinematic intros and that is important for you, then this game is not for you :D. Go to cinema and watch movie... You probably don't play chess either as there is no cinematics and sounds... But if you like challenges and great turn based strategy games you will most likely love this if you forgive few bugs. This is definitely best game in series since part 3 and is all about great gameplay.

More a service to existing fans than a new game in the series, Heroes VII is a huge game that entertains but fails to overwhelm.

A Heroes of Might & Magic game can hardly be a bad game. But this seventh entry struggles to prove it can be more than something average, because of an obvious lack of money and time for development.

Limbic’s creation doesn’t deserve being called “a new Heroes game”; at best, it’s a remake of Heroes of Might & Magic V. [Nov 2015, p.72]

As a reviewer, I was bored, as a gamer I was confused, and as a fan, I was disappointed. Ubisoft’s indifference for a long-running and beloved series is a problem, and I hope they realize that.

Combines the best of the previous games. The online mode does not work correctly yet but they announced patches to deal with that. Furthermore I am not interested in the online experience (especially if I had to play with such a hateful community). The gameplay experience is definitely worth it and I will spend a lot of time on the singleplayer.

I find it hard to rate a game so low. Even in the worst games you will find something that saves it from a total disgrace, say some music tracks, maybe graphics, maybe even one little thing, like a loading screen which you find particurarly artsy, or this one voice actor, who saves a day. Anything. In…

I feel like the developers either did not understand what makes the classic HOMM games so great, or they just did not care at all. This is not a terrible game at core, but it just feels incomplete and soulless. In comparison the the older HOMM games, it just doesn't hold a candle to them. A few design decisions make me quite disappointed too. I wholeheartedly wished that they would learn from their mistakes after VI flopped, but I suppose not.

I really wanted to love this game. I really did. Somewhere, deep down, there is a solid, fun gameplay here. But it is buried under tons of bugs, lack of polish, and straight-out amateurish development. Where do I start? Well, let's start with the good. Campaigns, for what is probably the first time in history since Heroes III, are actually enjoyable and well thought-out. The RPG elements are possibly the best ever - the skill wheel and general lack of skill points ensures that: a) each hero is unique in his/her own right, and b) hero development is not based on random chance this time - you decide how to build your hero. That is what you call good game design and that is why I tried to much to spend worthwhile time in this game. Sadly, no matter how good some core concepts are, the fact of the matter is that the game is unplayable because even 3 years after release it just does *not* work. One of the most important thing, the AI, is not even broken, it's basically non-existent. The AI, no matter the difficulty, will always behave in the same idiotic way: it builds its army, then it throws itself against you. So far so good. However, when you defeat it, it will continue to waste its gold on buying heroes in the tavern and do nothing for the rest of the game. Yes, that's it. That's literally it. Difficulty only changes the magnitude of cheats the AI uses and thus the strength of its initial attack. Any intern with basic programming knowledge could gobble up a network of if-statements and it would work better than Heroes VII's AI. So, at this point, I said to myself: well, maybe the game is enjoyable in multiplayer. My mistake. Since nobody is playing this crap online, I had to persuade my friend to try both network and hot seat. Network multi player doesn't work because of constant time outs. Trust me, we tried. It's beyond ridiculous. OK, so hotseat it is, then. At least in hotseat, the game actually works, since there is no Internet connection to time out.. However, it blatantly uncovers the second fatal flaw of Heroes VII and the last nail in its coffin - there is no game balance at all. While in Heroes III, V, and even VI to an extent, you can pick any town in multi player and win, unless you pick specific towns or do a specific strategy in VII you are simply screwed. There are hero builds that are simply stronger than others. There are towns that are simply superior to others. Since units now get substantial flanking bonuses that are basically unavoidable, superior attack is always better than superior defense and everybody is literally a back-stabbing bastard now. And so on, and so on... Nothing screams "rushed launch" more than total unbalance Heroes VII is. And it's a shame because the new skill wheel is simply superb concept. Lack of polish (weird or missing sounds, bad animations, recycled assets, inconsistent art style) is just an "icing" on the cake of problems mentioned above. Since ubisoft, of course, pulled the plug and discontinued its collaboration with the developer, the only thing that could save this game is modding but since nobody plays it, there is no hope left. Nothing has changed in years. RIP Heroes VII, you had a chance.
