From the very beginning of your adventure, to the final confrontation against Metroid Prime itself, you will be enthralled and enraptured.

As if they dissected "Super Metroid", added a dimension, and put it back together again with slick graphics. [Feb 2003, p.96]
There are a million and one awe-inspiring moments saturated with detail waiting to be uncovered in Metroid Prime. Each new area is like an art exhibit.

Despite not reaching the highs that the main series reaches in its best games (Dread and Super), Metroid Prime is still a very enjoyable game, that shows that the metroidvania genre can work just as well in 3D as it does in 2D.

The best game to hit any system in the past few years. No game has captivated me more or been more fun than Metroid Prime in a very long time.

Looks as good if not better than the most cutting-edge PC games available. It's got a unique, cool as ice visual style and a soundtrack that should be winning awards. Most importantly, the gameplay is so finely tuned and tweaked as to be a sublime experience in and of itself.

Gamestyle
Whether you're negotiating platforms (made simple thanks to a camera that pans down) or involved in the final climatic battle with Metroid Prime, you always feel as if you're at one with the game. And surely that's what gaming's all about, isn't it?

While hardcore FPS fans might be a little put off early with the amount of exploring that has to be done, those prepared to put in some serious hours will be constantly enthralled as the puzzles unravel. A visual and sonic masterpiece, MP is destined to go down as one of the best computer games of all time.

One of the greatest games of all time. Bravo.

The first person controls work well for the most part, but we just can't ignore a few control issues that crop up at the worst possible time.

While Metroid Prime engages on no level other than gameplay, that gameplay is so perfectly tuned and refined, so continuously evolving and clever that you'll keep playing and playing, even when you're frustrated, even when you're honestly just a little bored with the back-tracking, and even though you don't care about the character or story.

honestly I would rate the game a 7/10. I just finished the game and it felt like a chore. waaay too much unnecessary backtracking and they don't even give u pins for the map so you have to rely completely on memory or just wander around trying to remember where you saw that area that you couldn't access before and then you have to come back to the same area at least 5 times, and the more new areas u discover the more backtracking u have to do now. the enemies also weren't that interesting. It was a good game overall but the backtracking killed it for me.

One of the most overrated games all time... Super Metroid is much better by far... The final is so bad, has no epic... I wait to gain abilities to be more agile and never happened... you cant run, you cant move fast... so bad...

I don't get it??? I can only assume that the people who rate this game so hightly are only playing the first half, or just mulling around... and if that makes them happy then more power to them. The issues for me is that the game DRAGS on, and isn't all the willing to let the player know what they should be doing. It tends to want the gamer to ffigure things out, which I'm all in favour of in most games (well thats not true, I like the know what the F I am ment to be doing tbh) but when the world is so vast and challenging to travesre then I find the gaming experiance to be more frustrating and not fun and challenging. Each room has its designated respawning enemies who are more of an annoyance, put there to slow the player down and bother them, apposed to being an actual threat... yes I had fun with combat for the first half of the game, but when you are sent on fetch quest and artifact finding missions, the novelty of the combat wears off and the more I played the more I notice the "bullet sponginess" of the enemies, I mean even poison mushrooms took more the one shot the put down. I gave up playing this game at the last boss called Metroid Prime as it was far to choir-some for me, I mean I thought the basic enemies took the piss to kill but the last boss was too much and I realised I was only playing for the sake of seeing the credits that I would have skipped anyway. Fan base is very loyal but also very small, most people have given this game a miss or dropped out of playing not long in. It has GREAT graphics, even for 2025 and I love the controls and how the game handles, no other FPS plays like this. It uses only on analog, and then uses the trigger buttons for X/Y camera movement... it may sound like it don't work but it dose, very well, so well that the platforming is maybe the best part of the gameplay. Worth a look for sure, I've given it a 4 but could be a 7 on a better day.

The beginning of the game was good and gave me classic Metroid feels. As it progressed I didn’t find it fun and challenging so much as annoying and tedious. I regret buying this
