Lost In Random’s unique and compelling qualities go deeper than the wonderful art design. Trust us, roll the dice on a purchase, and you will not be disappointed. [Issue#7, p.84]
Lost in Random is a magical experience in several areas. The story, presentation, and world are a joy to experience from start to finish, with a few minor exceptions. On the other hand, the combat is initially refreshing but is hindered by the length of encounters and a lack of depth in its mechanics, so later encounters feel like a frustrating chore. It's a fun action-adventure in short bursts, and Lost in Random deserves much more attention than it has received.
The story grabs you immediately and maintains a steady drip-feeding of excitement throughout its playtime and the game is just overall a refined, lovingly crafted adventure that will appeal to even those who are generally turned off by “card battle” games, as the content and gameplay here goes much deeper than that.

This game didn't receive the recognition it truly deserves. Truly a hidden gem. The story grabs you immediately and maintains a steady drip-feeding of excitement throughout its playtime. If you love open world games it not for you..9/10 would certainly recommend this game. If they worked on some small things like mouth movement in talking and add more weapon cards and this game will be 10/10.

I really enjoyed this game, which recalls the finest hours of stop-motion animation. We really feel immersed in the world of Tim Burton and Laika from beginning to end. I sincerely hope for a sequel to this poetic journey.

it is a good Game but not a great Game! I like the Way it looks and the story is good too, but it had too many flaws to be a great Game. For Example the Combat System on Paper is a great Idea, but it is getting repetitive very fast. Plus in my personal opinion the Game is also a little bit too long. Weird thing to say about a game that i finished in round about 11 hours, but it justfelt that way. Maybe cause the Game throws to many unnecessary random fights at you and like i said these fight are getting boring really fast. But i sound too negative already, i really had a good time with the Game when i did not had to fight. Since my review already sounds way to harsh i will end it with Things i really liked about the Game. The Voice acting was very good and it was also funny. And The Boardgames where fun too, so it is definitely worth checking out.

Even with that gripe, Lost in Random just does so much right that it doesn't even really matter. I wouldn't trade my experience in the game for anything, and I'd be willing to get lost in the world of Random all-over gain. If you're on the fence, trust me, just roll the dice and jump on in, because you won't regret it.

Gothic fairytale stylings and unique mish-mash of systems come together into yet another great example of Zoink's boundless creativity and game design chops. Fans of Burton-esque worlds and tabletop tropes would do well to get Lost in Random.

Lost In Random is a delightful, sprawling action adventure set in a dark but fun Tim Burton-esque universe. Its combat doesn't always hold up but exploring its worlds absolutely does.

Lost in Random enjoys an exquisite universe, between an artistic direction reminiscent of the golden age of stop motion and a particularly rich narration. Add to that combat mechanics cleverly built and well executed despite some redundancies and some under-exploited ideas. But in the end, Zoink offers us a fascinating macabre tale that never runs out of steam over time and is worth browsing.

If you’re willing to overlook the bloated combat, you’ll find a lot to love in this macabre adventure about the bond between sisters.

The game’s inventive and jokey writing goes a long way toward mitigating the frustrating linearity that takes over the campaign.

Upon reaching the age of 12 a person’s fate is decided by the roll of cursed black die, but when Even's sister is abducted by the wicked Queen, she journeys across the six realms of Random to rescue her. The world of random is an interesting one full of entertaining characters, and the card/dice combination makes for some unique combat mechanics. A number of missions are stretched out longer than is really necessary however, and towards the end of the game combat encounters begin to feel like a bit of a chore, especially since the cards available to use never really evolve all that much from those you begin the game with.

Let me start by saying this game has a lovely style. The artwork is amazing and I love the feel of this crazy little world. It reminds me of The nightmare Before Christmas in a lot of ways. Just stunning. The characters you meet on your journey are fun and quirky, and the quests are never dull. In terms of art and story, this is a 10 easily. What I didn't enjoy so much was the combat. It is very, very repetitive. And depending on the cards you get, man, some of the boss battles can go on for an age. I never felt like I was going to really die that often, but sometimes it would take 30 minutes to beat a boss fight and by the end of it, I was bored of the encounter. Now, that may have been me, and my combat approach, and sure, other peoples mileage may vary on that point. So to conclude, I found Lost In random to be a beautiful, charming and fun game, somewhat hampered by a long, drawn out and frustrating combat system.

No chapter select after finishing the game No backtracking No multiple save files Half the trophies can be missed Combat is bad, like expected in a game made by a highschool student, not even indie game level Dialog can be skipped but the audio still plays Had 1 random crash Art direction serves as a cover up to bad graphics most of the time. You can clip into most walls and objects, player camera gets often obscured during game play. Traversal is slow and very limited, sprinting doesn't really feel any faster than walking but it does cripple how fast you can turn I wouldn't recommend it to any gamer friends, maybe to someone i hate

The randomness in the boss fights in conjunction with the fact that this randomness can make them a half hour long, or longer, makes this game incredibly frustrating. I have to do a half hour fight over again because **** dice rolling wrong over and over and over? This is bad game design. Im just jaw agape at the screen on the baroness fight, rolling "wall" over, and over. Its obviously rigged to make you have to fight her twice. Its maliciously designed. Like why? Who is this game for?
