It's Kirby without the real Kirby or free movements. A lot of the series's charm is lost that way and the controls are repetitive.
Cuddly cute, surprisingly, outrageously fun and best of all minimally flawed.
The game fails to show its beauty from the small screen of the GamePad, forcing the player in the role of Kirby to lose part of an otherwise fascinating game. A partial success, then, that it stands on its own due to the increasingly high quality and cleanliness of Nintendo's games.

I haven't played many Kirby games, but this one is by far the weirdest. It's one of those games that makes great use of the Wii U's features, which means the controls aren't always perfectly precise, and while there are some really cool levels, there are also several that make you want to shoot yourself.

Lack of copy abilities & too many auto-scrolling levels hurt. Great art style, unique controls. 7/10.

Why do people hate this game? It literally has everything going for it. The beautiful clay artsyle followed by the best soundtrack in the series. This game takes everything Canvas Curse did, added new stuff, and then doubled it. Memorable locations, Co-op, new characters, new gimmicks, new abilitys, and more. 10/10 better then Bomberman Act Zero on the Xbox 360.

Massively cute it may be, but this is a Kirby title that packs substance to go along with its drop dead gorgeous style.

This game is amazing. Better than Canvas curve. Third best game in the series after Epic Yarn and Air Ride. Fun soundtrack. It is cute. One of the best Wii U Games.

A genuine visual marvel and one of the most beautiful technical achievements on the Wii U.

This new Kirby makes us fall in love with his new graphics and it's funny to play, totally focused on the Wii U Gamepad, but it loses steam at the middle and runs out of freshness.

Kirby and the Rainbow Course shows what happens when you have a good idea but you don't know how to keep it fresh and engaging for a few hours. Not to mention the beautiful visuals completely wasted on a standard definition GamePad screen.

Gets several points right, especially its artwork and visual environment. There’s a lot of content to unlock and its difficulty curve is balanced enough. Where it fails is on providing a more captivating gameplay, as the game forces the players to constantly look down to their GamePads, wasting time in the process.

Expectations are always high when one of Nintendo’s mascots is featured in a new game. Unfortunately Kirby and the Rainbow Paintbrush fails to live up to the expectations, due to some tortuous control mechanics. The graphics are colorful and cute, but gets overshadowed by the mechanics that doesn’t seem to be properly thought through.

Lovely. A real time-sink that will be at the same time relaxing and highly additive. Só much stuff to do on every level, very high replay value, great collectibles and the challange mode is really thrilling. The art style is pure Bliss.

repetitive, almost the same version of the DS without much innovation after 20 minutes of game, makes you want to sleep. is a game that should be 3ds

How is it that a CONSOLE kirby game has less content then its 10 year old handheld rival when it is supposed to be a sequel? what has happened to gaming when console kirby games from the once AAA Hal laboratory has become incredibly slow and easy to the point of being boring. It's insulting enough that when you die a few times the game asks you if you want to SKIP THE LEVEL, and also the fact that a kirby and the canvas curse sequel has NO power ups when it should have much more fun and interesting powerups then its handheld predessor is boring. no mini games/time trials. what the hell has happened to the video game industry to make a console kirby game this void of depth. 1/10. an absolute disgrace for kirby fans waiting for a real kirby console kirby game that could wow us, not a budget iphone title simpler and shorter than its predecassor. clay graphics were very pretty though.
