It's not quite as great as Patapon was, but in the absence of such a game ever coming to the Vita, it's a perfectly acceptable substitute.

Keeping the beat in Jungle Rumble is a short but enjoyable experience. Those looking for a quick rhythm or puzzle fix on their Vita will find it here.

A cute concept is not enough to save Jungle Rumble: Freedom, Happiness and Bananas from being a disappointing rhythm-action game. Tapping the screen is fun at first, but too many of the levels play out the same way, and the whole ordeal becomes too repetitive for its own good.

It has a unique design and style. The colors are vibrant and the story is very touching and thoughtful. However, when it comes down to the actual gameplay the game is frustration.

The story takes a weird turn in the third act which made it seem less like LocoRoco and more like Rise of the Planet of the Apes, making the game a somewhat strange and interesting experience despite the incredibly frustrating levels and annoying control issues.

Jungle Rumble: Freedom, Happiness and Bananas sounds good on paper but the execution is flawed and that's a shame. It could have been something special using the Vita's great touchscreen but instead falls flat on its face.
