From the get-go, Miami’s presentation has a unique style, with vivid colors, generous amounts of post-process filtering and a stunning soundtrack (you will just let the game play on, only to hear the tracks). But at the same time, all notions of continuous fast-paced action gameplay disappear. Hotline Miami — это настоящий и дикий коктейль эмоций: нарко-трип, стрельба, кровь и кишки, приправленные эпичным саундтреком и сумасшедшей харизмой персонажей. Каждый уровень — адреналиновый взрыв, а дофамин льется рекой «как кровь из только что выпущенных кишков». Сюжет тут простой и предсказуемый, но он тут особо и не нужен — игра держит тебя за «яйца», ой то есть за счёт стиля, ритма и жестокого веселья. И нет, отвечу всем мамкиным Гагстерам и маленьким мясникам, она не сложная — если у тебя проблемы с прохождением, то скорее всего виновато твоё криворукое рукоблудие. One of the most influential indie games of the last years and I get why: Such a simple concept, executed well, with a fun basic gameplay and awesome music tracks to go along it. Yet for me it's a bit arcady and after a while it gets repetetive and stale. I guess I just don't have the patience to try the same level hundred of times, just because of a tiny error.

Funciona para un rato, tiene mecánicas interesantes y la brutalidad de su acercamiento a los píxeles lo hace bastante honesto. Desafortunadamente, hay secciones que son insoportables y el ritmo no acaba de cuajar en todo momento. Quizá es un concepto bien ejecutado que se vio abrumado por un desarrollo demasiado extenso. A veces menos es más. Hotline Miami sabe lo que quiere ser pero se cree que lo hace tan bien que se extiende hasta rozar el tedio.

Hotline Miami is proof that it is possible to create a fresh and addictive action game, even with the game's emphasis on retro. At the same time it evokes truly human feelings the modern-day shooters die trying to deliver.

This game is one of the best games i've ever played in my life alongside Postal and UltraKill, it has a really good story and the game play is just too iconic to forget

For all the careful planning that might go in a stickup, it all usually comes down to clutching out impromptu, split second shootouts. Sometimes these quirks manifest as incompetent A.I. behavior or exploitative gameplay, but for the most part, it all congeals in a remarkably tense and satisfying experience with depth to go with its style.

I wonder if the developers themselves knew what exactly they were trying to create. Is it a stealth game? a tactical strategy? a top-down arcade? Kitschy, bold artwork is only there to cover up the lack of cohesive ideas, and crude execution.

Crazy fun and hectic when it works, but there's some unreliable physics and tedious portions (*cough* boss fights) that drag it down.

Insanley overhyped. hoping for a cool tripped out 80's Miami semi pulp fiction vibe? Get ready to hear the same trashy modern edm song pumped at you over and over as you try to fight your way though clunky controls and cheap levels that then start to randomize as you start to figure them out.
