Sure, mini-golf is fun and online is fun, but most of what you’ve seen here is found in the previous game, which is somewhat disappointing.

Hot Shots may be outlandish by design, but the golf proves true. Off the tee, out of the sand, the chipping, the putting...it's all pretty realistic, and ultimately that's what will keep you playing. [Oct 2004, p.108]

I must say that, next to the Mario Golf series, Hot Shots is definitely one of the better “fun” golf games. Pretty simple to play for newcomers - pretty competitive for virtual golf gaming veterans, like myself. The art style is… cute… for a lack of better words. It’s also nice to have a caddy that helps you and gives you advice on which clubs to use or which direction to aim your putt. Is HSG Fore! a great game? Not exactly. Some inputs are a little finicky (at least, for me they were), and it isn’t a golf game that I could pick up and play for hours (are there many, though?). But I think it’s really good!If you’re a golf-gamer, it’s definitely worth a couple playthroughs, at least.

And if Hot Shots Golf FORE! is anything, it's addictive. With so many unlockables at your disposal, it’s almost guaranteed to suck away hours of your time, especially since the core gameplay is so solid.

If may not feature a drunken out of shape John Daly or the regal presence of Tiger himself, but like Stifler's mom, it definitely has it going on. Buy it for the gameplay, stay for the online.

This is probably the best golf simulator dressed as a "friendly game". It´s hard, it´s rewarding. Almost any game on this saga is gold, but Hot Shot Golf Fore has to be the best among them. So many courses, characters, excellent music, etc. I wouldn´t even know were to start.

Despite its goofy and, possibly to some, even tasteless look, HSGF! is one of the most enjoyable golf games on the market, and surely the finest I’ve ever come across in its field.

It's simplistic in the initial stages, but deep down, this is a fun, surprisingly deep game that can keep you interested for quite a while.

It's definitely a solid title that offers fine gameplay and excellent replay value, but outside of the online play -- which is pretty barebones -- it isn't too much of an advancement over its predecessor.

Everybody's Golf invites comparison with the similarly cartoonish "Outlaw Golf 2." Sadly it comes off second best again, thanks to that game's wealth of tournaments and play modes, and its attractive 19.99 price tag. [PSW]

Delightfully accessible and addictive gameplay blended with great visuals and comical characters makes for one of my all-time favourite games. Hot Shots Golf Fore remains to this day a great choice if you're looking for a challenging, yet engaging experience.

a lot of reviews claim that this part has not more to give than part 3 and all of them were absolutely wrong! you will get a lot of courses, a lot of characters, so much items, which no part before has to offer. a great game, though i still missed a worldranking, even if its not based on real players in the internet. but everything else is made great here! if you like golf-games, especially those with cute japanese characters you should own this one! great game! (9 out of 10)

The fact that i've been constantly coming back to play this game for the last 5 years says a lot about how great this game is. Theres plenty of awesome characters and caddies to choose from and lots of comic relief when it comes to the hilarious and equally random remarks made from the characters and the gallery. Once you get the hang of this game the sky is the limit, since reaching National Champion status is not finish line and there lots of stuff to unlock, this game seems endless and always entertaining. The only reason I didn't give it a ten is because of the frustration that comes with the difficulty at times, but it's golf, and thus very realistic.
