Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary is almost as good in reality as it ever was in your memory. The graphical update is welcome and the multiplayer maps are decent if not amazing. There are a few rough edges and cracks around the once infallible gameplay, but nothing that would stop you enjoying Halo: CE immensely the second (or first – lucky you) time around.

It's an amazing piece of gaming history, to be certain, but a purchase decision still comes down to this: If you're a fan of the series who loved or missed the original, it's a no-brainer. This is one of the best pieces of fanservice our industry has ever produced, and you need to go buy it. On the other hand, if you're an FPS fanatic trying to decide between this or Rage or Deus Ex, you may want to think twice before dropping 40 bones on a shooter that doesn't quite stack up to the competition.

For its time this was a 9/10 innovative incredible masterpiece. For today? Like a 7,8. If you are able to appreciate the game for its time, its just amazing. The vehicle handling, enemy AI, gunplay, sound design, the open level design, the 4 player split screen and the first popular online MP game (at least on console) makes it some of the best of its generation. For todays standards id say it feels rather basic but thats just because halo made the standard not because its bad. Its enjoyable today, the OST, open level design and atmosphere algonside its well designed gunplay will attract you, just dont think the story is otherworldly or dont be expexting something crazy that you havent seen before, its better than average but nothing crazy for today. The main critique id say is the campaign, the first 4-5 missions are good and interesting the rest feel like they recycled the game because they had no time Worth at 10$

A great return to a great game that took me in a gaming direction I never saw coming! Loved revisiting every second and the ability to toggle back and forth in setting was a neat and nostalgic way of seeing how far we've come!

The main problem isn't that the game isn't fun, it's that it is an objectively bad remaster. There is almost no segments where it improves on the graphics. There is no reason to play anniversary, the original is superior in every way.

They could have easily just threw on a fresh coat of paint on it and called it an HD remake like a lot of other titles, but 343 has more respect for Bungie, Halo and the fans than that. They have added a ton of new features well worth the $40 price tag.

Halo is an experience worth repeating and CEA is the treatment that the original deserved. Highly recommended.

It's a great game. I highly recommend it. It has a lot of action, its mechanics are very good, the story line is very solid and of course the master chief is great.

One of the watershed titles in the evolution of gaming gets a HD facelift and proves that it's still better than virtually every game that came since. A stone cold classic.

Halo Anniversary sits in a middle ground between faithful remake and spirited reinvention. Players who want an exact replica of the original will be frustrated by the absence of a faithful multiplayer experience. Hardcore modern gamers could be annoyed by the dated nature of the campaign design. However, for the majority of players who fit in the space in between, this classic game has received a new coat of paint and gives you reason enough to re-enter the fold.

A faithful recreation in every sense of the term. [Christmas 2011, p.96]

It reaches highs that some Halo recent entries still haven't reached, and due to some unfortunate pacing, some of its biggest lows, too. All in all, its timeless combat ensures that old fans can soundly enjoy it once again, while newcomers can fully appreciate why it's always been so highly regarded.

It's lost some of its sheen over the years, but Halo is still a monolithic classic worth replaying. [Jan 2012, p.74]

It's still an important and hugely influential game and it should probably be played by anyone interested in first-person shooters. But unless you're part of the generation of gamers that are now in their 20s and you're looking to recapture your Halo heydays, this is definitely most gamers can skip even at its budget $40 retail price.

It's the beginning **** saga, but the 1st halo show a bit it's age. Some world are repetitive and too much labirinth (and you haven't a map!!); enemy sometime stupids - sometime they kill themselves and sometime they have so strong weapons that you go from full energy to death. Veicle drive very difficult and physic is not realistic. Beside this it's a game worth to play for the story, the improved graphics and his heritage

I liked this game quite a lot - the first pics i saw were awesome. But now, it looks just old. A cool game ... 10 years ago. Today it lacks a gripping story, drama and good graphics. The later I can accept - the first two not. Still good - the controls (except the driver controls of the warthog, they still ****).
