Peak mediocrity. The "immersive sim" tag is laughably misplaced here. It's more of Doom-like game - run around, kill all you see. This game could've benefited from having some role-playing conversations or stealth mechanics, but it has too weak of a writing for the former and too weak of a level design for the latter. Obviously not enough thought was put behind Graven, resulting in a game that could have been great otherwise. You can barge into a random house and find some unique loot and it's like... just there. Why? Why not make it into an interesting quest? I'm not saying it has to be WItcher-level, multi-phased, 5+ hour questline, but an NPC here, a piece of dialogue there, maybe some interesting notes and voila - this would've been infinitely more interesting. Now, there are notes in this game, but they are so vague and nonessential you can pretty much just cut them out completely and it wouldn't change a damn thing. You burn down a pile of corpses and find a note underneath that says one of the dead people led a miserable life. Oh wow, that tells me... absolutely nothing. It's just put there because it's "meant" to be there, even though it adds nothing to the experience here. I liked some things about this game. I liked the visuals, as simple as they are. The difficulty is rather adequate, which is rare these days when almost everyone tries to either make a game that would rip your a*s or a completely handholding experience. It is clear that the developers had good intentions and a decent enough concept in mind, but lacked either the skill or the budget to really make the game shine. Or both.

I dont know why some people diss on this game. I think its fantastic and definitely a worthy addition to my collection. love all the features. i suppose its not everyone´s cup of tea but it reminds me a lot of hexen, heretic, etc. and those are games i grew up with.RECOMMEND IT
