Gibbous - A Cthulhu Adventure
I’ve played my fair share of indie games, but few felt as polished as Gibbous: A Cthulhu Adventure. A great deal of care has gone into its production, and despite getting pretty dark and serious towards the end, the memorable characters kept me glued and did a fantastic job of propelling the story forward — in every aspect, it’s a fine introduction to the point-and-click genre also title worthy of any veteran.
Gibbous is worth your time if you are willing to overlook its numerous oddities and rushed narrative so you can enjoy a few brilliant game design ideas and marvel at the game’s outlandish sets. If Stuck in Attic sets out to create its second game, the studio should scale back its ambitions and definitely hire a professional screenwriter.
Gibbous is a great entry-level point-and-click adventure that has many of the base features of old classics as well as a few new tricks. It very much looks and feels (and even has the humour of such games) as Monkey Island and the like, but it does lack the ingenuity of the puzzles from those games.

It's pretty good! Great visuals and you can play a CAT. This alone deserves bonus points. I didn't have too much trouble with the voice acting.

Every fan of traditional point n click adventures must play and support Gibbous: A Cthulhu Adventure. A really solid and complete game, including humorous dialogues, smart (but not very difficult) puzzles and a unique cast of characters, with only drawback its relatively short duration.

Amazing 13 hours spent in a beautiful and very vivid universe with bright, dark colours and loads of real life references, zingers and challenging puzzles. Not sure how much I paid but it was worth every last pence of it!

Excellent graphic adventure that is inspired by the LucasArts classics and the work of Lovecraft to offer a plot full of humor and mystery.

Forget about the Cthulhu in its title; you don’t need to be a fan of Lovecraft to enjoy this accomplished point and clicker. Gibbous – A Cthulhu Adventure will tickle your funny bones with its dialogue and won’t leave you flummoxed when faced with its puzzles. And because of that it’s fun from beginning to end. It isn’t groundbreaking in any way, but did anyone expect it to be? It’s just yet another very good entry into a genre that remains ever popular.

A solid first effort from the Romanian outfit, a good narrative just let down by some overly simple puzzling.

Gibbous: A Cthulhu Adventure looks amazing and will make you laugh, but its inability to tell a coherent story prevents this comedy cosmic horror adventure from fulfilling its abundant potential.

One of best adventure games I played. I played it twice, and I love it so much. Beautiful drawings, funny dialogs, interesting puzzles. I am really looking forward to next games like this from this studio.

Solid 7. Charming, cute game. Not the most outstanding game in the genre, but see that developers really tried to create what they like. Interesting and not trivial point-n-click.

Utterly charming and fun and harking back to the glory days of Lucasarts and even Infocom. Still playing, and most of the time with a silly grin of nostalgia on my face. The puzzles aren't the hardest, some of the voice acting isn't exactly prize winning, but putting that at the top is just criticism for criticism sake. The game is simply fun end to end and if you long for the golden age of adventure games, this is beautiful trip down memory lane. EDIT: having now finished, I sadly have to take down the score. The game seemed to run out of steam or seemed incomplete. The rap scene... ugh. The ending... couldn't seemingly make up its mind whether it was supposed to be profound and moving or teasing a sequel or what. Still overall good fun, but bit of a letdown at the end.

Alas, gotta agree with the negative reviews. Had been looking forward to the game for quite a while - often checking their Kickstarter daily in the hopes of an update - and am pretty disappointed with the final product. The devs clearly are very talented in visual design as the graphics are amazing. Other than that there‘s not much else positive to say. The story meanders and is predictable, the puzzles are so easy it‘s not even funny and the high number of audio lines/dialogue/monologue the devs boasted about before release especially feel like a waste of resources as most of those have the quality of "Tick, Tock" when looking at a clock or "it looks, well, ancient" when interacting with an ancient armoire. The game is divided into chapters and most of those only have a handful of locations, meaning even if the devs had tried it would‘ve been pretty hard to implement a few more challenging puzzles. If you‘re looking for a pretty point‘n’click adventure with an uninspired story and the difficulty of a Telltale title you can give Gibbous a shot. Most fans of the genre will probably end up as disappointed of the game as I am though.

I've read some positive reviews before buying it and, ignored the negative ones. Most complains where about the voice acting and I don't really care about those things, much less from an Indie. Let me tell you this, GibbousIt's the first game I've ever asked for a refund on Steam! I would say that about 70% of the script of this game are either references or quotes from somewhere else. Whoever compares this game with any Lucas title clearly never played a Lucas title. The puzzles are simple, it takes about a minute to figure out each one, except a couple of badly designed ones. If you never played a point-and-click or you are 6 Year old or under, maybe you'll enjoy it. The only thing Gibbous and Monkey Island have in common is that both games are on Steam. When I hear that a game it's like Lucasarts, I get excited and, when I see it's just marketing and lies and, they don't deliver I get pissed off. BIG TIME! Quoting the guy that gave them a 10, Do yourself a favor and play something else ... like Lamplight City or Unavowed.

SummaryCrazy cultists. Cthulhu. A talking cat. Gibbous takes you on an expansive, traditionally animated, hand-painted adventure. Play as three protagonists and explore a lushly rendered Lovecraft-inspired world, unraveling ancient conspiracies. A comedy cosmic horror adventure made in Transylvania.
