Xixo Game Studios' Enchanted Portals has given us some of the magic of Cuphead but not much else. Though its art style and boss fights capture the essence of its inspiration. The sluggish gameplay and mechanics completely let it down alongside its dull story and choice of presentation. With some polish Enchanted Portals could be the challenging platformer it wants to be. But currently it only achieves this for all the wrong reasons.

Enchanted Portals takes the foundations of a familiar game in both style and substance, yet fails to provide a compelling experience in either regard. There's clear effort being put into this game in terms of the art and animation, yet the gameplay feels far more unpolished than appearances would have you believe. Random level designs and frustrating enemy placement leads to a game that irritated far more than I would have hoped, with a good amount of my losses not feeling close to my fault.

I completely disagree with the ratings on this game. Users bad reviews might put a huge weighting on gameplay, UI and such and prehaps a "taking of style" from cup head but objectively speaking there is care put into the scene transition images- i cant believe they actually had a detailed screen transition for almost every area that was deeply relevent. There is deep detail and design for the maps and bosses, As well as the effects - anvil dropping on you? Changes ur size. Witch turns your person human or something. If people are review bombing and rating based on their frustraition i get it, but objectively, there is something jaw dropping here.

Pick up Enchanted Portals and you’ll find that you can have some fun with it, especially if you get a friend in tow and play in co-op. But while it sports an attractive art style and a listenable soundtrack, the gameplay will frustrate you from time to time, and you’re likely to find its run ‘n’ gun stages a tad too repetitive. Throw in difficulty spikes, disjointed boss transitions and a lack of sound effects, and you have a game that’s ultimately a stylish disappointment.

Em suma, o jogo não é mau, mas decepcionante, talvez pelo facto de ser cómicamente parecido com Cuphead, beirando o plágio. As mecânicas são interessantes mas mal trabalhadas. As fases são, em maioria, criativas, mas repetitivas, onde a maioria é uma linha reta com inimigos repetidos e fases gigantes. A direcção de arte é um pleno OK, um pouco repetitivo, com PNG's transicionando fases e algumas onde parece que o nosso personagem não se encaixa naquela fase. O sistema de tamanho dos inimigos é interessante, mas mal implementado, onde temos inimigos pequenos em 1080p e inimigos gigantes em 144p. Os chefes, embora copiando alguns chefes de cuphead e alguns muito faceis, são criativos, para dizer o minimo. Os comandos não respondem bem e certas mecânicas estão mal polidas. A dificuldade é desequilibrada, onde o facil e o normal são muito fáceis, maso insano é extremamente dificil, basicamente dificuldade artificial. A história começa boa mas deixa de fazer sentido em um ponto. E, por fim,o jogo está cheio de Bugs.

This game is not Cuphead. Cuphead is more like a bullet hell shooter. This is a little slower paced. it actually plays similar to Castle of illusion or Megaman or Ghosts and Goblins its similar to some of those Sega gen titles from back. in the day. This game is a roguelike game hard hard hard.graphics look fantastic. haters!!! Pile on ye haters. Don't let the internet critics bully you out of playing a game you might like.
