When EAFC26 clicks into gear it really feels like the most authentic, exhilarating title in the long running franchise for quite some time. Brilliant modes and great improvements to gameplay help push this series to new heights. Beautiful visuals and an infectious soundtrack seal this as the best title in years for the franchise. It’s just a real shame that EA have to infect this beloved series with shameful and disgusting microtransactions and a truly pathetic season pass. Nerfing rewards, throttling prices and some inconsistencies with the AI stop this from being an instant classic. EA, you’re slowly getting on the right track again, don’t mess this up.

The new “Authentic” mode offers a touch of realism, but online matches are still a chaotic mess. EA’s continued obsession with microtransactions and the clumsy integration of women’s players into FUT only reinforce the impression that, once again, style has triumphed over substance.

Pro clubs player here, and when i say this i really mean it, this is the worst fifa game of all time, you're not safe anywhere, you go to pro clubs, you got bad ai defending, bots giving the ball to the opponent, goalkeeper scoring on himself, bad marking and positioning from the ai defenders, horrible league matchmaking (i get matched up against 5-7 people while i play with 1 friend 2v7 basically), bots doing unnecessary crosses to each other, but i never saw one of these things happen to my opponent? I swear to god all of the weirdest things in this game happened to me, once the referee robbed us from a penalty inside the box and gave us a freekick outside the box like its gonna fix it, and you got ultimate team, the goalkeeper being 93 rated and still doesnt save ****, my LW raphinha with rapid+ cant get past slow defenders, so many rebounds, and especially when i tackle the opponent they somehow get the ball back, and once my opponent was going 1 on 1 with the keeper, i successfully tackled him, but the script gave him the ball back and he shot, but the gk saved it, but saving wasnt enough then he got the ball back again and scored, this game will ruin your life im telling you right now

This crap isn't football and it's ridiculously expensive. I don't want to waste money on these ridiculous cards, I just wanted a decent football experience. Waste of time, waste of money, garbage.

Once again, EA FC 26 arrives with specific updates that don't justify the high price of its annual edition. As promised, the game listened to its players' complaints and tried to address many of them, but in some cases, the sheets were pulled to one side of the bed, leaving the other side exposed. The two distinct gameplay styles aim to appeal to a wider audience, but there are still positioning bugs that the game's AI can't handle, which are likely to generate new complaints.

FC 26 remains a strong package, despite its deliberate choice to abandon authenticity in the online space. There are still numerous gamers out there who crave realism, even in competitive matches. Yet while this represents a step backwards for real football, it’s unquestionably a stride forwards in the field of fan service. This is not the sim Pro Evo purists have longed for – but as an esports collaborative between the developer and its community, Fifa’s third follow-up achieves the majority of its aims.

Newest release in the iconic franchise, EA Sports FC 26 has arrived with few improvements and no innovations. While it remains essentially fun, with many game modes and good gameplay, the game suffers from its dated production and lack of significant changes. Competitive online modes, in particular, remain greedy, albeit with some improvements. In the end, this is a good choice for soccer fans who are familiar with the series or who have been away for a long time and want to get back on the field.

By truly dividing the gameplay between two very distinct presets, EA Sports FC 26 is trying to appeal to everybody. The more methodical Authentic toggle will attract offline Career mode tinkerers, who want to work hard for those scrappy 1-0 wins. Meanwhile, the snappier Competitive option is built for online sweats, who want to force their opponents into submission by burying them in goals. Both feel good in their own ways, and when paired with several new features and refinements, you get a flexible game of football that should please everyone – well, aside from those who simply can’t jive with the franchise’s over-reliance on monetisation.

I do not recommend FC 26. Despite some minor improvements, the game still suffers from issues that have existed in previous versions. The player rating system is inconsistent, the AI often makes strange decisions, and the overall experience can be quite frustrating. Many times, it feels like the outcome of matches depends more on the game itself than on the player’s skill. For the price being charged, I expected a more polished product with truly significant improvements.
