Addictive, and a treat for series fans. [March 2017, p.82]

Goodseekers is a game for a very specific type of players, but if you're looking for a tactical RPG (or even Dynasty Tactics 3), this title deserves an opportunity.

Those who are used to the Dynasty Warriors franchise will at least be happy to see some of the characters that they love from the series, along with lots of nods and winks. But Omega Force’s difficult position of needing to please both fans of the franchise, while also trying to bring in fans of a different kind of genre, has resulted in a muddling experience that may start out promising for turn-based newcomers, but quickly turns stale.

Game is severely under rated, with more then half of the reviews being from players and critics who obviously only played half or the beginning of the game. Its turned based yet as far as turn based goes its SO far from boring for games in this genre. The difficulty could be harder, but that doesnt make the game any less fun. Which in my opinion is rare as usually too easy is boring. I love a challenge, and while on the easier side of things its still VERY engaging. The music for it is AAA, which I found odd but very welcome. Its also pretty long. Right when you think its over, multiple times, a massive change occurs in the game. The cutscenes are also of very high quality and the story direction, which I find crazy important in games, is more inline with that of old school FF games. (Only from a well put together stand point) This is “NOT” the typical DW short stories you end up skipping through. Being as I myself am someone who skips stories in 95% of the games I play due to dullness, slowness, un needed small talks etc, I didnt skip anything in Godseeker. So that says alot, There is no dub to this game sadly, but I also didnt find myself pushed away by that either, which I usually am. So that goes on to say just how well directing for this game is, Theres enough variance in characters that you can use your favorites and still most likely be ok in battle as well. While there is no job system, the system in place actually does really really well! Weapon farming and customizing plays critical roles. If youre on the fence with this game, just get it. It truely is a high quality tactics game that you wont regret buying.

Great fun if you're already a Warriors/RoTK fan, stupid price and should not be digital-only. My only complaint is that it's quite easy to win, even on the hard difficulties. I am about 50% through the game and I haven't lost a battle yet, I haven't even had an officer die.

I'm not sure why this game is getting a lot of hate - it seems to be around the fact that it isn't a standard Musou style game, does this warrant the bad reviews though? No, it doesn't. I bought this on release, played through the story, which took about 40-50 hours then played through it a second time (there was a trophy for doing this but also I was so engaged in the game that I couldn't stop playing). If you are a fan of games such as Fire Emblem or even the old Final Fantasy Tactics then you will feel at home with this game. You take your turn at moving and attacking the enemy from a top down view then the enemy has their turn to do the same. Missions will range from flat out 'kill everyone on the screen' to 'escort a certain person to an escape area' with enough variety and a load of familiar DW characters you can play as and experiment with. During battle you can perform a 'sync' attack, where you line up your characters and the ones within the symbol will get another chance to move and attack and then lay down a massive attack - this can sometimes end the battle really quickly or help you progress if you have been surrounded by the enemy. You also have separate skill trees for each character which can been upgraded with SP, which you earn by killing enemies - so the more active the character is, the more they can upgrade - this is great as it gets you to actually use the other characters and not just settle for the same party in every mission. Speaking of missions, you have a set story, which you follow from town to town but after you have completed a mission it unlocks 3 'free-play' missions per town, these are usually an escort, kill everyone and protecting peasants. These can be replayed as many times as you want with whoever you want - and once you have completed the game once then you can also replay all of the story missions as much as you want. Another thing you are given is a set of challenges which you much achieve to progress certain characters' stories, so, for example, get Lu Bu up to level 50 and Kill Lei Bei with Cao Cao etc... If you achieve the set criteria then you unlock mini conversations which leads to unlocking more of the DW family to join you in story mode and free play and even new weapons, items and artwork. All in all I really enjoyed this game, I've spent easily over 100 hours on it and I'm still quite far from platinuming it - however, I love both Musou games and turn based strategy games such as Fire Emblem. I know a lot of people aren't happy with it being digital only, to you I would say, if you like Fire Emblem go look at gameplay videos of this on youtube, if it looks like something you would enjoy then I guarantee you will love it.

Even as a dedicated single player game, Dynasty Warriors: Godseekers is one of the best games available on the platform. It’s just so perfectly balanced, invigorating, intelligent, and rich.

With Dynasty Warriors: Godseekers Omega Force has made an enjoyable shift to a turn based strategic formula, even if its gameplay could have been much deeper.

Dynasty Warriors: Godseekers manages to break its mould slightly with the introduction of a tactical RPG combat system and is ultimately strong enough to tide fans over until the next inevitable instalment.

Instead of another musou, Tecmo Koei brings to PS4 and Vita a decent SRPG, perfectly suited for the newcomers or for fans of the franchise who are looking for something different. There are far better similar titles on both systems, still Godseekers is a good choice for the uninitiated to the genre.

Dynasty Warriors Godseekers manages to capture the spirit of the series with its tactical experience, but sadly fails to stand out from the competition and the classic games of the past due to the lack of any real innovation. Despite this, there's still plenty of fun to be had for fans of the Dynasty Warriors series and tactical RPG, as the experience is quite solid. Just don't expect to remember Zhao Yun's journey six months from now.

The first tactic game within the Musou-Universe since 2003 delivers decent fun. It is superficial at times and overall too easy, but with the character development and plenty of weapons console strategist get a fair amount of content.

If you really like Dynasty Warriors and you're jonesing for a new strategy game to get into after exhausting all the other brilliant ones available, it's worth a look. But that’s hardly enough of an endorsement in a strategy genre full of far better crafted games, is it.
