The strategy based spinoff of Dynasty Warriors. It's a lot of fun if you enjoy the Dynasty Warriors formula. I do, so I had a blast. Sadly, this isn't quite as good as 7 Empires in my opinion. I miss some of the strategems in 7, I miss the political stats you could achieve rather than it just being good or bad, I miss a lot of things. That being said, this is still a great game. I'd personally get 7 Empires over it, but this one is available on PC, Xbox One, PS4, and Vita, so it has a huge plus in that respect. If you enjoy the series, it's worth your time. If you don't enjoy the series, it isn't.

Not played anything DW in full since Empires 5 and Dynasty Warriors 6. Coming back into the IP with Empires 8 well this IP in presentation looks and feels so dated and simple now. I think this series is just now for nostalgia fans. Wow this formula has not aged well. Blocky maps with a totally inorganic feel to them. The combat so basic with just run/ride to a base clear out rinse repeat with simple like moves and tactics. The other Empires side content just fills out the game, but doesn't really add anything of depth or value. The most fun I had with this game was the customization of characters. You know the dress up fashion part ( oh deary me ). Empires gets a plus for co-op, but a minus for the co-op partner having to wait around for all the Empire management stuff. I think I should of gone for Dynasty Warriors 8 Xtreme Legends complete edition instead. Like sticking to just the mindless mashing and not got dragged down by the low tier effort of the Empires style filler parts.

A good mix of strategy and and buttton mashing. I wouldve like to see more emphasis on the strategy element but this is a Dynasty Warriors game after all. This still might be my favorite game of all time. It is incredibly fun starting from nothing and building up your army to conquer your enemies. Which can then be pursuaded to join you. So by the end be able to have Lu Bu, Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, Liu Bei, Cao Cao and anyone of your other favorites all on the same team is extremely satisfying. All in all a fantastic game. Side note, I saw another review saying there is no split screen co op, this is false, i can confirm that there is.

At its core, the game offers a painfully vapid series of generic skirmishes and little else. Add that on top of Dynasty Warriors 8's already tired combat, and you've got the makings of an insipid title parading as as a Dynasty Warriors themed kingdom simulator.

Through the game was enjoyable I feel that they are missing some of it old enjoyable parts. I missing the different ending you get as you play differently through out the game. Another was that i missing stationing different warriors in different place of your own area. This build the game more into realism where if that area is attack tor defend you can only use those warrior in that area. I hate the Ruler AI in the game because I don't know why you would give up your position as king to another person. Overall the game was great the enjoy with my different strategy you can use to win the game.

Opinion review - This will be from my perspective, who has followed dynasty warriors since the very beggening. I discovered it one day, on a demo. I loved it, i scrounged up a bit of money and then rented it. I loved the idea of bieng a single man in a war, it was so immersive. This was dynasty warriors 2, Little did i know i had previously played the first installment at my cousins place, so i was a big fan from then on. I religiously baught each game. until now tbh, despite my disapointments. from 6 onward the series began to decline, but one thing you could always count on, was Empires. Each empires installment ensured a challenge unlike any other, because of how sandboxy it was. Chaos was nearly impossible, and required growth before you even started it. Then 7 empires came along, the game was fun and all but with 7 and 8, the games got WAY easier, and it just became too focused on combos... why? this isnt a fighting game? well. im one of those that thinks elaborate mechanics trump combo play in fighting games anyway. but thats another subject entirely. And while i say it was focused on combo's well, thats just a phrase im using, while combo's are a part of the game now, even that's undermined by how you can just slap a strong officer and kill him in one on the hardest difficulty. If you want a challenge, you have to find a very thin balance between your growth, and the difficulty you're playing. which let me tell you, isnt fun. Objective review - My opinion aside =p Dynasty warriors empires has certainly kept the franchise going for people like me, but the series has fallen alot since. 8 was actually a step forwards for a change, and this came with surprising challenges in a new form. The game threw 8 officers at me at the same time once, now when you aren't strong enough to insta slap them, this got fun. I hadnt had as much fun since dynasty warriors online, when i used a X3 range ability to toy around with 8 players, forcing them all to run off. (fun stuff, but broken for other reasons, also another subject.) Still, it wasnt like it used to be. 1v1 fights that the AI actually tested you, 2v1 fights if you got really good with that block. dynasty warriors 5 was the last time it felt like the AI could actually stand against you. But four extreme legends had by far the most superior AI. yue ying... *shudder* dynasty warriors 8 did right by adding the mystery to each level, it used to be red items and 5th weapons, you usually had to do some really cooky stuff within a battle to trigger events, which then triggered the appearance of those shiny red glowing beauties. By adding that in the way of triggering a hypothetical storyline, refreshing the originality of the story, finally regained that sense of victory and satisfaction for completing each faction again. Not that pure historical is bad... its just not good on its own. Extreme legends added even more to it, but all in all it remained the same. when the empires installment arrived, well... the reason im talking about the franchise as a whole is because you can sum up dynasty warriors 8 empires so easily.. it's 7 empires. with the slight changes between the two games, but with less features. and less difficulty. You can play chaos mode without any growth whatsoever. And its easy. You cant make a difficulty HIGHER THAN HARD. easy. Im getting so tired of difficulty bieng ignored in games. Resident evils Veteran mode is satisfying, and it goes two higher now, professional, no hope!. RE5 professional ended up forcing me to memorise every single enemy in the entire game, it was great fun. Chaos mode in dynasty warrior 3, actually saw me run out of time, in the one and only time i have ever used up the entire 2 hours it gives you, during He Fei castle. (ofc this is actually fighting the battle, and not rushing down the commander) i have my theories, and have been told a theory, as to why the warriors franchise has gotten increasingly more and more insultingly easy as each installment is churned out. But aside from them, its just puzzling why they want to turn a battlefield, from an immersive expereance. To just ignoring soldiers who stare at you the entire time.. Sure they did this in the older installments.. But not on chaos mode! Infact, to clarify. Dynasty warriors 3 and 2, this was HARD mode. Chaos came after, and severely ramped up the difficulty. it was amazing in four and five, standing against a massive army who wants to gobble up your commander, beside your best friend. Only your skill, wit, and stamina will win you the day. And when you do end up victorious, that is a feeling that made these games a cut above the rest. Now? its like they've forgotton about their own game, and have forgotton what people like. I cant be the only one who has had those experiences? you know.. accidentally accepting a duel with Lu bu in DW4XL.... oops >_> I want that feeling again. Lu bu right now is a chump. Just like the latest games.

Another title with a game Dynasty Warriors brand came out, it became part of the already lost count of the many games with that name. The newest member of the Japanese series e eighth over, as the very name shows, but this is perhaps the biggest novelty at this last moment and title of the series. The game is a classic Beam em up, which in plain English means that you will confront a significant number of opponents, which should erase. Behind the develpment and publication is people from the Japanese studio Omega Force and Koei, who continue to remind us about yourself through this immortal series. 8 whether it will be a lucky number bearing success and glory? You can choose only you - the players. Deja vu The gameplay and story bear a strange feeling of Deja vu. If in fact you have played any of the previous parts, then is not a feeling, but the simple reality. Dynasty Warriors is the latest improved version of that same game, but do not despair. Anchored in the game story, based on the historical novel "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" by Luo Guanzhong, tells of a dilapidated Chinese dynasty "Khan" whose power was shaken. From the raging chaos in the country benefit feudal lords of the three dominant kingdoms: Wei, Shu and Wu, who have two choices: to wipe from the face of the earth dynasty once or it restored. Whether you merge all the kingdoms under your flag or power over all as a tyrant, you decide. For people who are not touched by this title never will describe the game with three simple words: a lot of action, spectacle and much more than that. During most of the time you will fight on a battlefield, fighting for supremacy with your opponents from enemy kingdoms, but a start must choose your character and game mode. The game features over 80 characters from four different factions, among which you can choose. In recent editions of the game appears a new one: Jin, which can play after scrolling game. As far as game modes, Dynasty Warriors 8 has 4 such: Ambition Mode, Story Mode, Free Mode and Challenge Mode. Despite the difference in names, each of them resembles largely with others, offering more than projected in the roots of the game battles, with little difference in the surrounding environment and mission. The game does not have an open world that we are used to, and is divided into multiple levels. Each episode presents significant and not so significant battle in Chinese history where you have a specific assignment from your commander. Your goal in each mission is different, as it depends not only on the battle, but the choice of hero. The authors are not glowing with originality in designing your goals, as they most often are: elimination of the opposing general or officer and protect your master. Graphically the game is not very high and this can be seen with the naked eye. Rather than have stressed the visual look of the game, Omega Force decided that more important is the gameplay and fun, which must bear their title. The levels are really quite simple developed, they are quite clean, which will help you to concentrate on the battle easier. While relaxing by the last fight, navigating to your next task you will encounter a variety of items such as bonuses for speed, double damage, food, restoring your health, weapons and even a bunch of other useful additions. All these things you will find in scattered in the levels: boxes, jugs and of course, most of your kind lifeless enemies. Dynasty Warriors offers fans six degrees of difficulty, which may prove to be quite a challenge for you, if your character is not sufficiently high level. As I mentioned the game has a system to increase the level of your character, and consequently his health and bands with "anger" and your special force "monsoon" will rise with each Level. Not only you, but your weapons will improve, causing more damage to opponents. You will have quite an extensive arsenal of weapons that you can use in your every battle, but remember that there are important and how strong each. That with which this game will most impress you will not chart, and battles with their dynamics and expression. Just this greatest plus of the game will keep you viewing hours, eager to baste your opponents in even more stunning and brutal way. Each level you facing hundreds of enemies, waiting to be defeated of you, but any army has generals and officers who may pose a threat. If skillfully avoid their attacks and counter attack at the right time, through the chaotic and furious inflating the keys (which is proven to increase your damage at least x10), then you really have a chance to triumph. Music layout very well complements generally tense and energetic atmosphere, through its rhythm and speed. It is a mix between rock and metal intertwined with interesting, traditional Chinese melodies. On the other hand the sound of characters and lines and all other units are of very low level. During battles will listen to the constantly repeated inarticulate sounds like "oh", "eminence", "uh", "ah" and occasionally a dialogue between you and any of the other characters, allies or enemies . It is not only pumping! Must and savvy. Dynasty Warriors 8 is not expected to revolutionize gaming market, but it is an enjoyable title that will provide at least a few hours of real entertainment. The game and not devoid of problems, the most significant are the numerous bugs, non-optimized engine, terrible camera and the inevitable monotony of the gameplay which even end two DLC-they could not cope. Of course, this does not make it bad, just boring after some time spent on the battlefield. If you want to try something different from Counter Strike and Dota, this is the perfect for playing during in autumn.

At first it's a bit overwelming. With subjects and just unbalanced situations thrown at your face, this game has lost its direction. Although it was pretty enjoyable once youve gotten it down, but needs to balance itself like DW6E because I thought that game handled it well. Iverall it was an incredible experience.

With more options than any empires entry I played so far this really shines if you like the gameplay. Get married, have children, recruits a huge army, build structures on a risk-like map and fight among your own empire or support one of the computers, increasing in rank, fame, skills and overall just having a lot of things to do. Recommend.

Really love the game-play. Not really different from the last one but that doesn't matter. The only difference is that this game is more like RTS hack and slash combined which works perfectly. Another great ad don to this game that the last one didn't had is edit mode. You can now edit your own character, officers, flag, horse, army. So now you can basically start you own kingdom with your self created characters. You can now also form alliances with other kingdoms and you can even get married and have kids. And I haven't had any problems with bugs and all Great game 9/10 still playing after 100 hours

I am a big dynasty warriors fan so lets get straight to it. The game is good it is a little better then dynasty warriors 7 empires. pros: really only war strategy game on ps4 the empire mode is good you have many choices on how to win the empire. choices change depending on if you play good or bad guy. the creation system is decent don't listen to the guy who is pissed about it. the graphics are decent don't know why everyone is pissed that graphics are not art and they don't make the game. The game is a good game to release your frustration on countless foes cons: your sworn siblings they could have done a lot more with this feature maybe give special attacks if they are with you or something. would really like them to fight in villages maybe give it a change to forts. if you level your forts up really think they could change the graphics in the game more for said fort. I miss the imprison capture generals option. All you can do is recruit release or kill them. fix some of the bugs minor one in the games. i.e. start a defend I wipe the floor with enemy loses the generals and they say I only get a narrow victory

Pros: - Enhanced customization features for the CAWs - Ability to make your own flag - Ability to choose what your soldiers look like - Ability to create your own scenarios - The “Rock, Paper, Scissors” weapon element system (I liked it) - FREE MODE! - A better officer trait system (it is harder to abuse) - The ability to have children (still cool even though the children are ugly as ****) - Easier to make friends with multiple officers - A better progression system (you can’t object your ruler’s opinion unless you are a prefect) - Added DLC weapons from Dynasty Warriors 8 - A cool weather system (EX: lightning stratagems work better in storms) - Lian shi no longer has a crossbow - The ability to use bonus points to unlock weapons - Improved item system - Quests and raids are now different things (the effects of both are also different) - Online multiplier - Completing battle objectives earns bonus points - More political options - A better weapon level system (each weapon forge adds a level) - A better item level system (each item shop adds a level) - A better stratagem level system (each academy adds a level) - Countries have only a certain number of soldiers (more can be recruited) Cons: - Scrolling through armor or other customization options is slow - Less cut scenes - AI seems “dumber” - Wang Yi’s new weapons doesn’t really match her character (my opinion) - Only a few new customization pieces - Defensive battles are too short (5 min) - Can’t unlock new armor - The stratagems are not as good - All AI controlled officers tend to act the same - Graphics are downgraded from Dynasty Warriors 8: XL - Frame rate drops like a cinder block when attacking archer towers - No slit screen Summary: This game makes a lot of improvements to the Dynasty Warriors 7: Empires formula. However, certain features from DW7: Empires have be downgraded or simplified in DW8: Empires. Improved customization options are greatly appreciated, but losing the ability to unlock more armor is disappointing. Some features of the game are stripped down into being almost useless mechanics. Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires does make a lot of great progress in expanding on the Empire formula, but these new mechanics need to be refined. Final Verdict: Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires is an extremely fun game despite its flaws. With the current status of Triple “A” games such as Destiny, Evolve, Titianfall, and The Order 1886. Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires is a great example of how games should add more content with every sequel and not spam the player with micro transactions. The game does suffer from frame rate drops and loading issues, but those issues can be easily patched. If Koei patches those issues, then the issues that bothered me will be gone. If you are a Dynasty Warriors fan, I highly suggest picking up this game. If you hate Dynasty Warriors, then why are you looking at reviews? If you are new to Dynasty Warriors, I suggest buying Dynasty Warriors 7: Empires for ten dollars on the PlayStation Store or Xbox Marketplace to see if you like this type of game.

Pro: Massacre. Grow your resources, money, and army. Con: NO SPLITSCREEN/2 Player- This was a big NO NO. Huge let down, I rented it assuming it was 2 player bcuz the others did and ended up being disappointed not able to play with my son. Can't choose different soliders for different battles. COMMON! This crap for PS4? Really? That's why I rent before I buy no matter how good a game's rep is.

Warning DO NOT BUY. As of now, the game is incomplete, lacking, bugged, badly programed and clearly not tested ONE MINUTE. Your CAWs have no voices on the in-game events/scenes . As of now the voices areall messed up, Ma chao talked like a strong woman, Dong Zhuo like a little girl and CAW use random voices every time. As every empire there are individual comand prompts for every of your officer, which in this game they completely ignore, you tell them to DEFEND X base or move to this point and the ignore it ,go rampaging a perfectly defended base and let themelves be captured in SECONDS. Ther is a new "grand scheme/strategy" now, which requires two of your officers choosen at RANDOM to leave the battlefield for a minute or more, which is, so far worthless as the strenght of such stratagems damage/usefullness, BUT the fu#$% AI, your subordinates decideto ABUSE these ass stratagems, and they CHOOSE to dissappear two of your officers twice or three times IN A ROW, making near impossible enjoy your command of battle, plus, making things harder and stupidier. This is the most quiet battlefields EVER, remember DW7 empires? cutscenes everywere you can see your CAW and others to chat, complimient each other, feast, battle and just chat, this time the battlefield is complete silence, no one is talking **** no one cares your 3k kills or base defence, no matter the strategy THERE ARE NO CUTSCENES for such plots, no cutscens of the amush, no cutscenes for being a ruler, no cutscenes for ANYTHING. there is this "fatigue" system where if you or one of your officers battle too much they start loosing stats, great if done well, saddly it does NOT. there is NO indicator for how much fatigued you are, you just randomly loose stats. The game says resting "cures" fatigue, but resting do not cures fatigue, it cures SOME fatigue, but ALAS there is no indicator of how much you are fatigued you cannot know when/how you will be OK. Koei sold Unit creator as a big improvement, but is lacking as hell. Creating a warhorse is ok if you somehow controlled who or when cavalry appears. Createa banner is awesome indeed. But man, create a soldier is lacking, you can only choosefrom the normal models: Peseant, 5 types of soldiers (the usual) and the mages, thats it. You can alter height, weight and colour palettes, done, no custom weapons, no increase strenght, no armor pieces or shields o fighting styles, just plain choose a clone. Battlefields are a mess, the pathlines from base to base are so opaque that is confusing if theres is a way/path or it's just the line. multiple objectives crowd and crample so tight, their flashing markings just get in the way and hide important parts of the map. On-screen allies cannot be more braindead and weak as fu$"#. On-screen allies seldom throw punches, and when they do they make for 1% of damage, they NEED 5 to 6 minutes for an officer to kill an archer and there are hundreds, THOUSANDS. The game could be fun, but for now are the WORST $50 dollars spend so far in the year. NOT RECOMENDED, not for new players, not for Veteran Warriors fans or Empires's. Koei not only needs to fix the unplayable voices. Koei need to make the game at least as DW7 with newer characters, bus as of now, new weapon schemes are NOT enough for making a new empire game. Koe need to fix thisBROKEN UNPLAYABLE hacked off version ****. Good thing to remember DW7 Empires was abandoned and never patched, remember DW7 was left incomplete to it's luck, i made a terrible MISTAKE in buying this game as for now.
