Arkane manages to better the already exceptional Dishonored in nearly every way, creating a masterpiece of open-ended design. [Essential]
As a story, it may well be lacking, but as a collection of expertly crafted play spaces where design and mechanics reinforce and respond to your agency in myriad delightful and engaging ways, Dishonored 2 is pure magic.
Every detail is almost perfect, and no detail is wasted in this triumph of worldbuilding and storytelling.

Dishonored 2 is one of those games that, when it works, shines with a personality that many modern AAAs would envy. Its level design is a masterclass, the aesthetics are a delight, and the powers allow you to play like a true artist of chaos or absolute stealth. It’s one of those titles that, at its best, makes you feel like you’re living an experience designed with both heart and **** of course, it’s not perfect. The story doesn’t quite reach the level of the first one, some abilities are so broken they almost beg you to abuse them, and there are technical details that jar more than they should. At times, you can tell that Arkane put all its talent into the design and aesthetics... and left other areas somewhat overlooked.Even so, I recommend it without hesitation if you like stealth games, if you enjoy exploring levels full of hidden routes, or if you’re the type who gets excited finding an absurd synergy between two abilities. Dishonored 2 is creative, elegant, and unique. It might not be perfect, but it has something that carries more weight than perfection: an identity of its own. It’s a game that deserves to be played (and perhaps even replayed), even if it makes you raise an eyebrow every now and then. A gem with character, with rough edges... but a gem nonetheless.

Best one of the two. Mechanics, story, the noiristic feel, and the protagonist are all top notch.

A good sequel in most regards. As far as gameplay is concerned it's superior in every way. But Dishonored was never just about it. The story, world building, atmosphere, characters, they were just as important and are sadly significantly worse in this one (it's straight way down from the original really). I especially hate what they do with Outsider. He starts out as unknowable, detached, berly interested in mortal affairs. Very powerful and interferring just because of boredom. Meanwhile here he is being judgy about morality and giving you time reversing powers. Makes no sense at all.

A grim, gorgeous milieu of societal depth and cunning design. That its mechanics slot so naturally into its environment, giving players the freedom and choice to explore, influence and infiltrate means that Dishonored 2 represents the very best gaming has to offer.

The Dishonored series combines two elements I absolutely love: stealth and magic. It’s a rare blend that’s hard to find in other games, and it’s amazing how the developers took these elements to their peak in the second installment, improving on the first game in every way. The addition of two playable characters, expanded unique powers for each, and the dual chaos system (low chaos vs. high chaos) significantly boost the game’s replayability. But what truly sets Dishonored 2 apart is its creative level design. Especially the mission “A Crack in the Slab,” which shines like a diamond in the game. It’s a rare kind of level in video games, brilliantly implementing time travel mechanics. In the end, this is a phenomenal game that should not be missed. The fact that it didn’t achieve commercial success is deeply disappointing to me, because I genuinely hoped to see a sequel—which now seems uncertain.

Dishonored 2 doesn't veer from the path established by the first game too severely, but given how strong the world and gameplay were it doesn't really have to either. The new locales and villains make for some strong additions to the series, as do the new powers unleashed by Emily Kaldwin. Even with a passable story and ineffective acting, the foundation and gameplay are strong enough to make Dishonored 2 one of the year's best.

Dishonored 2 is the example of a perfect sequel, a game which improves several flaws of the first title bringing to life a memorable experience. Arkane Studios managed to create a masterpiece, especially for whoever loves the stealth genre.

The formula of the first game is hugely improved, giving countless possibilities of different play styles. Karnaca is wonderful and the level design is superb: The Clockwork Mansion is impressive and so is the level with two different fluxes of time you can jump into without constraints. The game is highly replayable, offers a mode without powers and is one of the most inspired games of this generation.

Easy Allies
Dishonored 2 offers players an immense amount of freedom to solve each scenario and imprint their own choices into the story. Exploration is not only encouraged but rewarded, and the use of powers to navigate the environments and eliminate targets adds a complex layer of strategy to nearly every moment of the journey. Bland story and combat hold Dishonored 2 back, but the quality of everything else make the journey to Karnaca a memorable one.

Feels like a tiresome retread – enjoyable enough when it sticks to the old script, but frustrating in its disappointment when it does attempt anything new. With a rushed story, colorless characters, and total misuse of a whole new playable character, the best I can say is that I didn’t hate it. I didn’t particularly like it, but I didn’t hate it. Dishonored deserves more than that.

Another visually pleasing stealth-based FPS set in a steampunk world of aristocratic bounders and assassins. It's a little too stealth-heavy for my liking and melee combat never works in first person but the interesting, evolving story and nice graphics will keep you playing to see what comes next.

Just plain boring. Seems like it would be good with all the moves and magic. But the moment to moment gamplay is dull. Main character is a hugh let down and bland ugly crone type that is about as relatable and likeable
