Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a game destined to mark an entire generation of players, as well as revolutionize turn-based combat as we know it. An RPG to remember.
Truly a masterpeace. As a gamer since 80's, I'm happy to feel this way again. What a story! What a OST! The gameplay is fun to, and the worldmap is so cute. This is the best FINAL FANTASY that never existed!
It's a masterpiece. I almost never give a game a true 10/10 but this game deserves it. An absolutely beautiful story, and a work of art. Everything about the game is so well done. You can see the passion put into this game, I cannot believe this is not a AAA game, as its better than most AAA games. I wasn't sure at first. Act 1 was a bit slow after the initial excitement of the first 2 hours, I started thinking it was a bit formulaic like most RPGs, and was getting worried that maybe it was a bit overhyped. From the end of Act 1 to the end of game, it exceeded my expectations in every way possible.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 sets new standards for the genre of turn based RPGs with regard to the story, but even more so the combat. A new, shining star, who hopefully points the way for many future games.
It's hard not to be impressed by Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, if only for the sheer ambition it displays. From its very first minutes, the game sets a strong, atypical aesthetic framework, almost disturbing in its tormented beauty. The universe, somewhere between surrealistic nightmare and waking dream, is unlike anything currently on the J-RPG scene. But Clair Obscur Expedition 33 is more than just a visual daring, for beneath its visual and symbolic layers lies a surprisingly dense, rich and, above all, dynamic combat system. Combining turn-based and real-time reflexes, the game redefines the genre's expectations by forcing it out of its comfort zone. But ambitious as it is, Expedition 33 is not without its faults. The game's overly linear structure hinders exploration. The environments, as beautiful as they are, sometimes suffer from a lack of interaction and a rather flat level design. The title isn't perfect, but it's terribly sincere, and above all it's a work that dares and often succeeds.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 mixes JRPG-like turn-based battles with real-time action. While I was hooked to this combat system, the story’s sudden plot twist felt forced. Although this was hard to ignore, it is undeniable that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is an appealing game that delivers a strong message.
Holy cow this must be one of the most overrated games I've ever seen. It's not necessarily a bad game, as I'm giving it a 7, but NOWHERE near a 10 that so many people are giving. Please don't be fooled by the other reviews.
It started out great, and after each act it was a downhill. I lost all motivation to play by the beginning of act 3. It does NOT get any better as it progresses.
The story and dialogues are mediocre at best. The music was great in the beginning but ended up becoming too repetitive by the end, and the same goes for the gameplay. The game is huge and each area is vast, but sadly quality was sacrificed for quantity.
clair obscure expedition 33 is a decent AA/Indie game that definitely worths giving a shot. but overly and unexpectedly overrated I don't understand why the meta score is so high. expedition 33 has a good graphics and is quite optimized despite being an UE5 game and i like the art style, the story is interesting enough to keep you playing but nothing like real masterpieces however the game has a lot of well done cutscenes which i appreciate, accompanied with an amazing **** unfortunately that's where the advantages end. the animations are outdated and don't match the nice graphics, some characters aren't well developed and worst of all the gameplay, the turned based combat is tedious and noticeably frustrating comparing to some turned based games i've played before (like south park games which were perfect turned based action) the game constantly pauses for an unnatural and interrupting and repitive combat that made me enable story mode to just see what happens next in the rather decent plot! so i just kept playing to the end just because of the story. the gameplay on the other hand failed like an outdated, poor imitation of old final fantasy games that even square enix found out is boring and old and abandoned. 6.75/10
To be completely honest, it’s a pretty average game that got way too much hype for what it actually offers in terms of gameplay. The combat is repetitive and not very interesting compared to games like Baldur’s Gate 3. The atmosphere is very well crafted, the music is gorgeous and the visuals are beautiful, but the gameplay ruins the experience. Even the “story mode” options don’t make the gameplay any less tedious… I really don’t understand the hype. If you just want to tell a good story, make a movie, don’t skip on good gameplay. One of my biggest disappointments.
Спустя 2-3 часа игры девушка бросила, ровно через столько же бросил и я, хотя она фанат Файнал Фентези и прочих фентезийных игр. Унылые бои, скукотища. Мертвый мир. Вообще не зашло
