It is pointless to spend your time on Cities: Skylines 2 in its current state. Developers should decide what is really important — fixing the game or releasing DLCs.

The creators have taken the best of the modding community and completely, it must be said for the better, overhauled, for example, the transport system, unlocking new buildings or artificial intelligence. Once they manage to overcome the birth pains, I have no doubt that this will be the best building strategy of all time. [Issue#331]

If you’re a die-hard city fan of city builders, and the idea of a new Cities: Skylines that’s 10 percent prettier and 5 percent more interesting has you salivating, you might wanna hop on this one right away. But for the rest of us, we can probably just keep chipping away at some other 2000-hour video gaming time sink. It’s not like this franchise is going away any time soon, after all.

I love city builders. I loved the first release, and that’s the main reason this score is even this high. That said, the number of problems in the base game is ridiculous. After a long wait, we finally get an update—and it still doesn’t work properly.Just a few examples:Building a bridge over a ship canal has not been possible since launch—only underground crossings work. Want to build it properly? Buy a DLC for €**** get bus- and taxi-only roads, yet they are still full of regular traffic.Traffic simulation still doesn’t work. Cims take routes that are far longer than necessary.Trash disposal is directly tied to traffic, which becomes unmanageable because of point #**** same issue applies to handling dead **** biking mechanic is unrealistic, and the traffic it generates makes no **** economic simulation doesn’t work properly either.Severe CPU bottlenecks appear at around 20k cims.Graphics instability and crashes start at roughly 40k cims.Putting my love for the genre aside, this is mostly an unplayable game. I also don’t accept that fixes for core base-game problems are being sold back to us as DLC content.A score of 4 is already more than this game deserves.

Terrible release, then scrambled to fix bugs, then allot of nothing, then slowly got better, then the audacity to ask money for dlc (I would expect nothing less from Paradox). Now it's decent and does look great, I now play it over the OG. Then recently the studio left the publisher which does not instil trust and stability. This game has a shakey past and a shakey future. I feel competition is on the rise and I like it.

Cities Skylines II is nothing more than a downgrade from CSI, the A.I is the most unintelligent I've ever seen (they take random U-turns in the middle of a highway, I saw some NPCs walking in the side of a highway, apparently they "moving out"). The economy is virtually nonexistent, and the grid tool is clearly unfinished, with it clipping through terrain, the buildings are always placed in the strangest parts of the block, and the game's performance is horrible, alongside with the NPCs looking uncanny, and I bought it in 2023, and I never saw a single bug fixed or improvement in the span of that 2 years, and they also abandoned the workshop with the "Paradox Mods", and the "mods" fix what the developers can't. CSII is also way too expensive and placing roads is extremely sensitive (90 degree angles are very hard to make in this game). The only thing good is the radio, which probably blew the budget, leaving the rest of the game half-baked and unfinished.

Cities: Skylines 2 has lofty ambitions. Several interlocking systems come together to convince you that this isn’t just a city-building game, but a way to build lively neighbourhoods full of small stories and intertwining threads. There’s a lot to love here, and if you fall for it, you’ll be hooked for a long time.

I had sky-high expectations for Cities: Skylines 2, and they were largely met. The larger scale, satisfying progression system, more realistic cities, improved AI and an extremely well-reformed road system have me completely hooked by this game. Unfortunately, there are also some negatives, which fortunately did not hinder my enjoyment. This will definitely be a regular on my PC for the next five years.

I love it already, only been playing it for just under 3 hours. Honestly, the performance hit isn't a big issue. I'm running an i7 7700k and an AMD 570 and it looks fine even on low settings. Love the sequel, thanks Colossal!

To move forward, sometimes you first have to take a step back. Colossal Order is laying a foundation that it can build on for years to come, but currently has its own predecessor as its main competitor.

There’s still work to be done, but Cities Skylines 2 is an impressive improvement over the original. Its systems work together seamlessly, and you have more control over how your city develops without it feeling overwhelming or intimidating. It's a shame some features like green building are gone, but I'm looking forward to seeing how Colossal Order keeps building Skylines 2 in the future.

Cities Skylines 2 is an outstanding transportation simulation, but as a city-building game it still doesn't feel as polished as its predecessor.

Cities: Skylines 2 offers the foundation of a world-class city-building game, with a wide array of features, smart quality-of-life improvements, and a genuinely impressive simulation to help bring your town to life. But its promise is completely overshadowed by its technical problems, dragging a fantastic core experience down into frustration and disappointment.

While this game had some problems in the beginning, especially with the early and bad DlC’s, the game is now a nearly perfect city builder with great realism, a high level of details and very good graphics. The new Update Economy 2.0 improves the simulation even more.

playable, somewhat enjoyable, a lot of ideas werent really fleshed out as the game punishes you hard for expanding and became maybe way too complex unnecesarily.
