A cult classic that at launch slipped through the cracks due to unfortunate marketing (the publisher initially advertised it as a "western" due to the name saloon in the title-- they couldn't have been more off) and is so undiscovered even I only caught on (as a fervent adventure gamer and oldskool adventuge geek) twenty years after release. Hard to come by, this is one of the great works of interactive fiction where the jump off were Spider Robinson's "mundane" sci-fi novels. But ladies and gentlemen, this is not about sci-fi. The game is amazing because Josh Mandel, the same guy that brought us Freddy Pharkas (which incidentally was a Western) uses all the humour and tongue in cheeck smartass jokes that work so well in the interactive fiction genre. Way ahead of its time and so righ, warm and human, CCS is a should play for all interactive fiction and adventure lovers.
