The game is wonderful. Amazing story, awesome gameplay, fantastic fighting systems, clever puzzles, everything a top-down RPG fan would want.

As a child I always wanted to play this series, but my parents wouldn't let me due to it being more mature. Now more than 20 years later I finally picked it from my backlog. This game is an unpolished gem. The story is great, the atmosphere is magnificent and the dialogue / few cut-scenes are masterfully crafted. Due to technical limitations of that time the loading screens take a while and the combat sometimes feels clunky. But earlier given pro's make you forget the few negatives. It's a dark, gritty and sometimes edgy game, one where modern developers can learn a lot from. I can't wait for the Soul Reaver remaster in a few weeks from now.

My most favourite game ever. Best atmosphere, best music, best main protagonist.

It's a great game for it's time, It may have not aged well but this was surely a masterpiece back then. The story is still phenomenal even to this day. The gameplay is pretty basic for the most part but using magic is extremely fun. Also, the world that the game takes place in is pretty developed, with a whole map of it that you can explore. Kain is a brilliant character.
