Excellent fighting, but not great at anything beyond the core hack, slash, and gas-powered aerial maneuvering. [May 2018, p.76]
Ultimately, there’s no argument that this is the best game adaptation the franchise has seen, and it’s an undeniable improvement over its predecessor. However, the amount of rehashed material might be galling to players who want new content — those who’ll be happy with simply killing titans in a more polished fashion are the ideal audience here.
Attack on Titan 2 is an interesting sequel as it chooses to retell the anime's story from the beginning and reuses a whole lot of assets and maps that existed in the previous game. While several smaller features have been added, it sometimes lacks originality. Fortunately, the core Titan combat is as satisfying and addictive as ever.

Attack on Titan 2 improves upon the first game by tightening up the gameplay, and adding new weapons, but struggles a little with side content to give more bang for your buck. If you liked AOT 1, AOT 2 has plenty of improvements, including a larger roster of characters, joint attacks, and a customizable protagonist.

Hands down the best anime game ever made in the history of mankind. KOEI again didn’t disappoint us.

If you’ve ever heard about the series and wanted to see what all the fuss was about, it’s hard to imagine a better entry point, while series veterans should love that it’s got style and action to spare.

Something I've seen lot on some sites is that there isn't a lot new about this entry and that's just not true. Allow me to list what's new in AoT 2: New additions include: a 'what-if' story that allows you to make your own character and play through season 1, season 2 + a secret chapter, multiplayer (finally), lots of new and interesting weapons, a ton of new unlockable playable… Expand

Attack on Titan 2 is one of the best Omega Force games so far, offering a great sense of depth and intense battles against the titans. The coop and competitive game modes add fun and longevity to the experience.

Attack on Titan 2 is pure fanservice. Omega Force an Koei Tecmo have made a title clearly focused on anime fans. But it is undeniable that development is not surprising and it is certainly repetitive. Even so, it will please, and very much so, the fans of the work of Hajime Isayama.

Attack on Titan 2 has an action-packed campaign that fans of the show will enjoy along with a pretty fun multiplayer mode, even if does look a bit outdated and the traversal system can prove to be more challenging than taking down a Titan.

Attack on Titan 2 could easily have been a remaster of the first Attack on Titan, since most of the content is the same as the original title. There is virtually nothing here to justify a new purchase.

Game is amazing. Way better than the first. If you like the anime it is a must buy PERIOD. All these children giving low scores are just cod players. Anyone saying there is nothing new here is an idiot or liar. I guarantee they didn't finish the game. This game goes over the first season just like the last game then covers all of the second season.

Very fun game if you are an Attack on Titan fan like me. But it gets repetitive. Not a bad game at all though.

As someone who played the first AoT for +50 hours, I must say this one doesn't feel like a brand new game. AoT 2 includes the first and second season from the anime, the problem is that the second season is very short compared to the first, and the first season was already covered by AoT 1, so if you played the first game, things on AoT 2 may only get interesting after half of the story mode. The excuse to repeat the first season here is that you can now create your own soldier and see the game through his/her perspective, but everything is pretty much the same. Putting a player-created character on this game feels like reading a "reader insert" fan fic at some parts (like when leveling up friendship status with characters). Plus, get the best weapons and skills on this game take hours of unnecessary farming. Of course that get a good weapon shouldn't be easy task on a game, but spend +20 hours replaying missions and farming materials on the hardest difficult setting only to get a decent sword is a little too much, there are better ways to make it challenging without being tedious (and it's even worse if you're a completionist/trophy hunter). Anyway, this game is for the anime/manga fans, and it's fun if you just want to beat the story mode and move on. In my opinion, they should have waited the third season before releasing AoT 2, so more content would be available.

These games are just bad. These are typically PS style games with Japanese themes but they are just so cheezy its hard to take these game seriously. As a none fan of anime playing this game was like torture. Good lord is it boring, weird, and uninteresting. The gameplay was like trying to play a broken Goat simulator game mixed with gravity rush. Its just bad. The graphics looked bad on PS4 Pro. The Pro just hasn't lived up to what it should be. The Xbox version is better looking on the X yet just as ****

For those wondering why this game has such a negative review, it's because it's not truly "Attack on Titan 2," but rather, "Attack on Titan Remastered," and should've really been named and marketed as such. The game, while done from the perspective of a custom character, covers the same missions as the first game, and even goes as far as to reuse the same cutscenes. While the game has a stronger combat design and a refined visual appearance, it is at heart 80% the same as the first game. Those who have played the first game need not purchase.
