A match for its bigger cousins on the surface. But dig deep and liberation starts to unravel. [Jan 2013, p.80]

Even though the visuals suffer in their tininess, none of the basic Assassin's Creeding is compromised. This is a full-blown counterpart to Assassin's Creed 3, with its own setting, style, character, and location. Bravo, Ubisoft.

My gut wants to give credit to Assassin's Creed III: Liberation for being a sizeable, faithful rendition of the Assassin's Creed series on a portable platform. However, I can't overlook the glaring technical issues, and I have a hard time seeing past the forced Vita-specific control gimmicks that mar the single-player campaign. If you're willing to put up with a lot of rough edges, you'll find aspects of Aveline's story to be superior to that of Connor's from AC3, despite the loss of scale in both the literal and figurative sense. I know the Vita is capable of producing better results than this, and I hope that Ubisoft puts some more polish into its next Vita title.

It was a huge mistake to play the Vita version instead of the remaster. The game makes terrible use of the Vita's features, forcing some interactions, like the camera and lighting, which are awful, or the card mechanics, which left my screen covered in fingerprints. On top of that, the game runs terribly, riddled with slowdowns and bugs, and the audio and sound effects are strange. Add to that a story and mechanics that are just so-so, you're left with a major disaster.

Just got this from GameStop for under 15 bucks, decent game, but highly experimental. Like the "low yield" RPG system based off of disguise is interesting and probably helped Ubi think about a game similar to origins. This game is more of Ubi seeing where they want to take AC next because a year later they made Black flag, so this was likely the inspiration. In the large scheme of things, the story is pretty good, the open world is small but that great for optimization on the Vita, and the combat is a little slow on the joy sticks but keeps up by what seems like slowed down combat on the enemy's actions. I miss this Ubisoft though; my god this was a good time to be alive when Ubi wasn't a woke cult.

As fully featured as any console game, and every aspect feels like it was given the proper care. Liberation is part of a beloved series, and it can be proud standing beside any other of your Assassin's Creed favorites. If you've been looking for a reason to pick up a PS Vita, this is probably it.

When I played this game on PS Vita I had a lot of fun.I remember with warmth and love how I went boating, climbed through the forest, parkoured, helped Connor Kenway in winter New York, and played platformer levels in Mexico. And I especially liked the mini-game with ships, where you can get a lot of free business money. There is so much variety in this game. The game combines stealth, part 3 combat, unforgettable platforming, horse riding, collecting and freeing slaves.
I am very interested in the theme of slavery, because I think it is very underrated, and I liked the plot built on legal superheroes. I replayed this game on PS4 for platinum with great pleasure, parkouring through trees, taking leaps of faith and stealing from passers-by.
This is perhaps the most underrated Assassin's Creed in the series, and the first in which we play as a woman of color.

The strong core of the Assassin's Creed franchise remains mostly intact here, but the truncated story makes Aveline's character development feel rushed and the twists much more predictable here. Liberation is solid game if you're on the go a lot, but it can't hold a candle to Desmond and his ancestors.

A solid and well-produced installment that aims for console heights but delivers more of the same. [Dec 2012]

While Ubisoft's commitment to the struggling Vita format is to be applauded – the console is in dire need of exclusives of this calibre – Assassin's Creed III: Liberation lacks the lavish quality of its big-screen relatives. Hardcore fans will not doubt be more forgiving and will quite rightly warm to the game's feisty heroine, but she deserves a better vehicle than this to showcase her talents.

The story set-up is good and there are some interesting new gameplay features, but almost all of them are squandered by sloppy design and technical issues.

I totally do not understand the people rated this game under 7 8. This game was amazing! The gameplay was fun and easy to understand, with all the new weapons Aveline has compare to all the boys in the main games. Aveline was the first female character that you can control with in the AC series and carry her around whenever you go! Which made this game extra special. I love how you can change persona and blend in with people. Different persona have different abilities. People complain how the graphics and sound are really bad, but I didn't find that as a problem for me to lower the rate. Okay...maybe the sound are not that great but the game is still on a PS Vita which leads me to the next point. Graphics are surprisingly good on a PS Vita. It's not a PS4 gamers, portable devices have a limit to it. Sadly, looking at Ubisoft's situation right now, they probably will not make another game about Aveline and her story....

I platinumed it in 2025 and realized just how much Ubisoft experimented with this installment. Many future Assassin’s Creed games will likely draw inspiration from some of its gameplay mechanics. Aside from that, navigating the bayou can feel disorienting at first since we’re used to leaping across rooftops, but they truly refined the art of moving through trees in this **** let’s not forget the disguise system, where missions play out differently depending on the outfit you wear : Lady, Slave, or Assassin. This game is far too underrated.

This game has a boring story that is hidden away from you, poor voice acting, bad sound effects, bad visuals and performance (It barley runs over 18fps), bugs are some of the issues this game faces. These developers were so lazy that they didn't even include a sound effect for the whip, the only new weapon type in the game. I would be ok with all of this if it weren't for the tedious sound track, forced play as the lady persona missions and forced (And awful) puzzle mini games. The more I want to like this game the less I do. This game was a lazy attempt at bringing the franchise to Vita. I get the feeling that they were just trying to make a mobile engine so that they can port the game to iphone if it works out.
