There is a story in the game: Penelope, who is captain of a floating sailboat, is approached by a kid named Max who has pirates chasing him. It is your job to defeat the pirates by shooting coloured bubbles at them. Yeah, boats float in the air in this universe because they have "levitation spheres" so you shoot pirate ships down by forming groups groups of 3 or more like-coloured bubbles with your bubble cannon. As you progress you meet other people who help, and different enemies who hinder you on your adventure. Okay, whatever. It doesn't take long before the game is asking you to purchase boosters with in game currency "gems". The boosters give you extra abilities making it easier to complete the level. Thing is these gems are only available by purchasing them in the PlayStation store. Actually if you have a PS+ membership you get a small number each week but it's not much. The more you get into the game the more difficult it gets and the more tempting it is to just buy some bloody gems. Every time you fail a level the game pops up with "stay in the game 120 gems", and that buys you 5 more bubbles which in real money is about 1 AUD. It's insidious and there are certain types of people who will blow scores of cash on this cheap game which the $79 gem booster pack attests to. The game itself is good fun for a while but the micro-transaction marketing you're exposed to at every turn make it best to probably avoid overall, or it could turn into an expensive experience. 4 /10

Kinda like candy crush motive where it's like you have to do microtransactions to advance.. you technically don't have to, but the game makes it extremely hard unless you do.
