The core gameplay of Adventure Labyrinth Story is tried and true. Explore dungeons, pick up items, and use those items to outsmart, outmaneuver and/or overpower your enemies. Where this game can fall flat is in it's presentation. The Graphics are fine but the animations leave much to be desired, and the soundtrack is forgettable. The titular Labyrinth's terrain generation is subpar, with floors often consisting of a few tiny rooms connected by absurdly long hallways. Adventure Labyrinth Story is also a bit on the easy side for a roguelike. Some items and money are retained upon defeat. This hardly mattered, as the town's shop has an abundance of Books of Escape, which allow you to flee the dungeon and keep all your items and money. It may not be quite as pretty or as punishing as it's peers, but Adventure Labyrinth Story is good enough to scratch a roguelike itch. It was fun while it lasted, but I don't think I'll ever revisit it.
