A charming, inventive, and most welcome revival of a deserving and underserved franchise that in its leveraging of the original’s timeless qualities creates the foundation for another generation to grow up wishing they were able to dance their cares away, sneakily learning a lot in the process.

While the shift toward the personal means that invested viewers will take more from his latest set of lessons, the central appeal of the show is that anyone who’s ever felt apprehensive about existing in society can find a piece of themselves in Wilson’s take on the world.

Gracepoint is not a poorly made television show: There’s attractive cinematography and solid acting throughout. But the energy levels are off, as though those involved were all waiting for someone else to step up and pull the whole production out of a stupor.

Bakula is a strong anchor for a series like this one, and the supporting cast is likable and engaged.... However, based on the framework laid out by producers, NCIS: New Orleans is primarily concerned with continuing the franchise, at the expense of telling stories of the lived realities of its primary setting.

Seed has a solid sitcom foundation, but suffers from limited ambition and a complete lack of promotion that makes it feel like a low priority for the network.

The transition from web series to half-hour episodes makes for some awkward pacing, as a single episode blasts through three or four different comic setups and lacks the typical thematic structure of episodic television. Nonetheless, Backpackers generates effective momentum through recurring characters and increasingly heightened situations.

Reckless ultimately rests on a half-decent central romance buried in muddy sexual politics.

None of the new storylines or characters introduced are taking the series into a more meaningful or funnier direction.

The season risks feeling like an epilogue to season two and a prologue to season four, but as both a sequel and a prequel Sherlock’s third season ultimately makes the series’ world richer, and a stronger foundation for more stories to come.
