There is glamour and the dialogue is witty and crisp in this slow moving, unpredictable series. Although “War” starts brisk with fiery monologues from the lawyers about bringing down the opposing party, the series soon breaks down into subplots, meandering scenes and even more characters. Most move the story along, a few don’t.

Not every reboot lives up to the hype but Netflix’s follow-up to the beloved series may do just that. .... There’s not a slacker performance within the cast.

Right away, you know that “Ride or Die,” Prime Video’s eight-episode series, will be in the vein of action/comedy flicks dating back to the ‘80s, yet somehow it works.

The first episode might reel you in or feel like a slow burn (it was for this reviewer). If so, don’t give up, “Margo’s Got Money Troubles” gets steadily more intriguing and pretty soon its measures of love become truly irresistible.

In making Achillia a woman who is scarred both physically and emotionally, creator, showrunner/executive producer Steven S. DeKnight and his writers have fleshed out a character who could have just been a plot stunt into one that is a welcome addition to the storytelling.

As the world watches and waits to see if peace can be achieved, one thing is clear: “Red Alert” and “One Day in October” are stories that vividly show the price without it.

It is a production that presents a challenge to the cast and crew to show the viewpoints and emotions of both sides well. And they do, for the most part.
