I don't know if to blame it on myself but the trailer is misleading. Some scenes I don't even remember being in the film. There are things they do get right though. The lighting and visual depictions are very mesmerizing (especially for a cut trailer). But when you piece all these together and leave a massive void between each with nothing particularly interesting to help advance the plot, it leaves for a very lackluster film. Not enough new content to bring back another retelling of a story such as this.
A remastered cult classic. Idk why it's being ranked as a Hollywood film. What makes the original so special it the video game culture, cliché dialogue, and over the top action. This movie has that and more. It takes a small spin-off of the original and modernizes it, while still giving you those small nuggets of memorabilia throughout the way. I will say the new protagonist "Cole" was not fully brought to life. His character could have been more fleshed out, but besides that, this was a solid film for a fan.
High 8. This movie is a masterpiece. It's a shame more people haven't seen this movie to rate it. The true grit goes to Kim Darby, as her performance is excellent. It's hard for someone to keep up with the Duke but this girl does it with class.
Loved this film! It came as a suprise, with not much advertisement that I remember. I started with little high hopes but found myself enjoying the ride. It has a lot of new and old to offer here. If your a fan of its predecessors, I encourage you to give it a shot.
Such a good film. Even 40 years later this film holds weight. It's raw and leaves everything on the table. You almost have to respect it's honesty and history as it's not something that could be made today.
High praise! You can really sense the addiction that the character feels by the end of it where you being rooting yourself. It really is a heart pumping adrenal rush. If the director is trying to portray to you what it feels like to be a gambling addict then he nailed it.
You got the big names, 3hr. film(check), wedding(check), Baptism(check), everything in a mafia film(check), but it just boils down to okay. The story plays it safe and 3hr 30min. U have to have something more then that to bring back these characters. Time spent rewatch Goodfellas and Godfather is preferable.
Very good movie. Well acted and portrays to the audience the severities of divorce so that u can feel the pain these people are going through. They do such a good job that I wouldn't recommend someone watch who is currently going through a divorce or even considering it.
Extremely high 9. One of the best horror/thriller twist I've seen. M. Night Shyamalan set his career off for me with this film. Excellently draw and executed with phenomenal actors. Couldn't have asked for a better film
It's a good movie but the acting is what holds it in. The movie starts off with a very interesting premise. The way it's shot, lighting, and locate is what pulls u in but by the end of it, it's less interesting as what you thought it would be. I can't knock this film as it breaks new ground and the actors go where most do not. Worth the watch
Scarface, the infamous movie I've heard so much about and just got around to seeing. It lives up to the expectation. This is a high 8 for me and possible 9 at release. It's long but memorable and an enjoy to watch
It's original an 8 for me but I feel like I'm not doing it justice for it's time. The visuals and concept of this movie is extremely unique and done very well why still staying mature with it's scenes. I can see why this is considered a classic.
Good film. My view varied between 7 and 8 a lot as it does take time to establish and set of a few points. If you don't enjoy the suttle building a dry humor then this movie might not be for you but I enjoyed it. Jake Gyllenhaal does it again.
Very good movie for all ages. It has the perfect humor for fans of old and new with iconic scenes referencing lots of classic films. You can some it up with just a solid film all around for the family.
This seems as a mixed review for me. The concept is great, the feel of falling into mad descent, the uncontrollable laugh, the play on Thomas Wayne and Joker, these are all done phenomenally(and a few others I can't spoil). I can't help but to feel thought, that this movie could have been and should have been a 9 or even 10. It's got all the right pieces to the puzzle and with a more thorough execution would be right there. I think making this movie 3 hours long, showing a little more of his descent into madness, and really capitalizing on the final few scenes and not leaving you with the ending that it did really would have put this to number 1 for me but above all it's still a really good film. If you're a comic fan it's a must see.
Good movie. Wondering why everyone rated it so low. I haven't seen Goodfellas yet or Godfather and I just watched this in 2020, (not when it came out) so maybe this various the viewing experience.
Idk what to say. I hate it but I liked it. I enjoyed the ride. The movie was very well written and coherent all the way up to the end and it isn't until you've invested 2hr 30min. of your life that you realize it was all for naught. All you can think about is 3 hours for that... It was at an 8 and could have been higher with an "identity" ending but it is what it is.
I have very mixed feelings about this movie. Even with the lackluster ending I enjoyed the ride getting there. The director & writer did a great job with this film making it relatable and believable but it still misses that satisfaction. It has so much potential if only the strong ideas were capitalized on a little bit more. The only other complaint I have that docks the movie a point is the extremely misleading trailer. It makes you believe there's a creator that only goes bump in the night and that the family never leaves the house for any reason. It sets up this big scene, what looks like a house full of strangers that keep doing mischievous things but no one knows whose the culprit, when really it never comes close to this standard and only barely scratches the surface. With that being said, I look forward to hopefully seeing this crew again and what comes of a film once they've perfected their craft.
The best thing about this movie was hearing the X-Wing and Tie Fighters screaming through the air again like Banshees but besides that you have another rehash of the same story with no risk and an over powered Jedi for no reason other than to drive a forced story plot.
Take it for what it's worth, a mind numbing none stop action and if you do that you'll love ever min. of it. If not, than it could drop to an 8 but it's such a refresher from the Fast & Furious/transformer-terminator 865 that we're use to. No matter how corny the line may be it's always delivered dead on. Sit back and allow yourself to just be along for the ride.
Everything's improved from the first one. A few jokes might not have landed but for a Marvel fan this thing had me rolling. I loved every second of it. You think it's going to give you a breather but it doesn't stop and the story this time is coherent and has rewatch-ablility. A high 8 for me.
You must take this movie for what it is. Is it a high class, well directed, story driven plot... no. But if your wanting to go with your buddy's to drink, laugh, and have a good time, than this is a solid movie and I highly recommend.
If you don't know about one thing in history you'll waste 2hr 40min. of your life watching this. If you do know about that one thing then you'll only waste 2hr 15min. of your life. The acting is what helps this rating from going any lower.
