Love this movie. They did an excellent job of creating a fun, goofy, action packed, fighting movie with the perfect amount of humor and campiness. This movie doesn’t take itself too seriously, and never intended to. It also has great costume designs, set designs, editing, camera work, a solid cast, and an iconic soundtrack. For anyone who grew up in the early to mid 90s playing the Mortal Kombat games (the people this movie was made for), this movie is a must watch. It’s not the most well-made movie out there, but I think it’s better for that. It has a certain charm to it, which gives it high rewatchability. It’s a genuinely fun watch. Just don’t go in expecting it to be something it never intended to be. That’s where the hater reviews get it completely wrong. They all come from people having a preconceived notion of what the movie was going to be, and then getting upset that it wasn’t the same as the fantasy idea they made up in their heads. This movie is great as long as you’re in the demographic it was intended for. If you’re someone who has never played a video game in your life, and know nothing about Mortal Kombat, this movie is probably not for you. I think that should go without needing to be said, though.
When will Hollywood return to form? Is it ever going to happen, or are we just going to have to accept the fact that the Hollywood we got in the 90’s is never coming back?
Unwatchable. Considering just how far the film industry has fallen, in the last 20 years, one would think we are well past due for it to snap back and return to form. This movie not only proves that we are nowhere near that happening, but it shows us that the industry is still in the process of collapsing.
Very generic and egregiously clichéd. I really want to know what happened to the film industry. During the 1990's we had countless exceptional films, but in the last two decades we've had around a dozen that could be considered truly exceptional. And most of those came out over ten years ago. This movie is terribly directed, unrealistically acted and poorly edited. However, the worst aspect of it is the writing. Anyone who's an avid reader will have some understand of writing quality. This film is so poorly written that it could be used in film schools as an example of how not to write a movie.
It's difficult to accurately articulate just how bad this film actually is. From the acting to the writing, to the directing this film just looks and feels poorly executed. It completely fails to hit that special feeling the original animated film was able to convey. I think it's time everyone stops paying attention to Disney. They produce nothing but pandering dreck.
This is one of the best fun summer films out there. It's full of action, has an excellent cast, a good story, high production values, a great soundtrack, and it's not afraid to be goofy and over the top at times. Overall, it's a great film. Lots of fun with extremely high entertainment value. It accomplishes exactly what it set out to do, extremely well.
Unbelievably bad. I feel bad for the kids in it because I'm sure they tried their best with what they were given. The faults lie in the writing, directing and production.
Surprisingly well made film. Definitely worth the time of any fan of horror. Thought provoking, tense, atmospheric, and touches on a lot of truth. A very refreshing experience.
This is one of the greatest vampire films ever made. Not only that but it's one of the most well directed horror films in history. An instant classic, and one that sets the bar extremely high.
More woke drek and the purposeful destruction of art. It has (very unfortunately) become a given that any remakes, in today's Marxist world, are being made solely for the purpose of mental programming and grooming (which is more evil than anything in this film).
