It’s fairly funny and well acted, if a bit light given its subject matter. Very much a debut film; a lot going on and it’s not all equally interesting; but humor often saves it.

I’m a big Alexander Payne guy, and this is just so cozy and funny and real like he (typically) is.

The pair have good banter and I’ve always been a Meg Ryan fan so it’s nice to see her back in the genre. Gets a little goofy and drawn out by the end, but overall it’s an easy watch.

I liked the first three films, but this just isn’t the same. It looks and feels so hallow and fake, and despite its return to R rating the action isn’t satisfying. What’s going on lately that $100+ million movies look worse than 2015 YouTube sketches?

It looks incredible and is well-acted, and leaves most things up to the viewer to decide. Could’ve been a bit more trimmed, but overall one of Scott’s better recent outings.

It has some moments of fun, but just like the first film the CGI fights between Venom and his symbiotic enemy look like dimly-lit trash bags flying at each other. It’s paced well, at least.

Far from the worst thing ever. Yeah, Platt looks really out of place but his co-stars are also in their mid-20s. As far as the story goes… like, it’s weird but hardly offensive. Sure the intended audience will like it.

Fans of the genre may get some kicks, but overall this is pretty boring and feels very straight-to-DVD…

About as good as Jordan Peele’s “Us”, the film works as both a reboot and sequel to the (pretty good) 1992 original. I can see it’s going to get review bombed, so for those curious there is only one awkward “woke” scene, the whole thing isn’t bad. But take all this how you will…

Rebecca Hall is great (as usual) but the narrative gets very muddled as it goes, resulting in an ending that leaves more questions than answered.

It’s got some major pacing issues, but there’s a lot of fun Easter eggs and Ryan Reynolds doing his best Ryan Reynolds impression. Better than Ready Player One.

Decent performances and some good drama, but the audacity to be 140 minutes when the story can really only justify 100 of them weighs things down.

This is lowkey becoming my guilty pleasure franchise. It’s a PG-13 Saw with bad acting and insane plots, but the puzzles are fun. If you know what you’re walking into there are worse ways to spend 90 minutes.

If you tolerated the other Purge films then I’m sure you’ll enjoy this one. But for those of us who prefer films to have well-shot action, coherent plots, decent acting and non-preachy narratives, this is a pass.

Fans of the first film should like it. It’s more of the same odd, aimless plot and tone-deaf comedy. Amusing for children but probably even better for the 13+ crowd

It’s fun, everyone needs to calm down. Of course it’s not the same nostalgic magic like the first film, but this one has Tim Curry so it can’t be all bad!

Was it good? No. But was it at least entertaining? Also no. The VFX are rough even by straight to streaming standards…

Fun, colorful, and simple Pixar; not everything has to be Toy Story or Soul.

I liked the first film, but this one is so devoid of laughs or fun action. It’s also paced horribly; despite running only 99 minutes it feels like hours.

Really dug it. Costumes, performances and soundtrack are all great. One of the best Disney live-action remakes; honors the source material while making it its own thing.

Well-shot and beautifully scored, the film lacks the narrative heft to be anything more than empty calories. What happened to their third accomplice? Why does the film not mention that they turned down a plea deal and went to go jurors’ homes? There are hundreds of people who were wronged by our prison system, but this ain’t one.

Ben Falcone cannot write or direct a film. Melissa McCarthy has proven she is capable of being a good actress and funny, and needs to stand up to her husband. This was rough.

I feel this got negative reviews early on because 20th Century had no idea how to market it. It’s a 2.5 hour mainstream horror film that is both cliche and ambitious. Worth your time if you like the Midsommar-type horror films that emphasize atmosphere over jump scares.

Not as engaging or insightful as the Unsolved series, but still a decent little crime thriller. Worth checking out.

Just one of those “nothing” of a movies. Even $15 million of reshoots couldn’t save it. Only real plus was returning to the theaters...

Not exactly sure who this film is for. It’s preaching to its feminist Gen Z choir but doesn’t really go too far, but also unironically depicts every stereotype of young lefties that people love to parody. A few charming moments but just watch Booksmart instead.

Pleasantly surprised. I was a bit worried going in because it’s 3D animation instead of the traditional flat, but the story and humor (mostly) stay true to the heart and soul of the franchise.

Blown away. Truly. Hopkins gives one of the best performances I have ever seen. The depiction of memory loss is terrifying but brilliant. A hard film to watch but important.

Tom Holland tries his best, but the film is too overlong, self-indulgent and immature, and the screenplay is too formulaic, to make this worth a watch for all but the least-demanding stans.

Cool, tense and topical. At times plays out like a 1960s version of The Departed, with informant rats trying to stay in the weed. Great performances, a great score, and just a great movie.

Not really sure what Rami Malek was going for here but he just clenches his jaw and puckers his lips the whole time. Jared Leto is effective. Denzel is... there. Ending kind of disappointing, but still solid-enough stuff.

Perfectly innocent. It’s familiar, but not manipulative or pandering like a Hillbilly Elegy. Timberlake is solid. Worth your time if you have Apple TV+, but otherwise you’ll never know you missed it.

It's pretty much the same thing as every other recent Neeson movie, in that when he is firing a gun there is fun to be had, but the rest of the film is blah.

It has moments of sci-fi entertainment, but it thinks it is smarter than it actually is, which ends up hindering it. It is too deep to be background noise, but too cheesy to be taken seriously. In other words, it's a Netflix movie.

I’ll give it points for trying to be topical and a motions for filming amid the pandemic, but the film is so aimless and takes way too long to get into the heisting.

I had never seen Part III before (I’ve seen the first two films a handful of times and think they’re very good), so figured this recut version would be the “proper” reason to finally cross it off my list. It’s messy and you can tell Coppola’s heart wasn’t fully in it, but if you view it more as a follow-up to a duology instead of the third installment to a trilogy, there’s enough to make it work.
