Truly funny, entertainingly ultra-violent and satirically smarter than I expected, Red is everything you could want in action movie staring 50, 60 and 70-something actors. Willis is on his A-game here, and if you've ever liked John McClane you'll like Frank Moses. The rest of the cast is solid as expected, with Mary Louise Parker surprising (me, at least) with her comedic chops. The plot reveal isn't quite Dr Strangelove, but it's a well-placed zing at the military-industrial complex and gives a fun movie some added weight without weighing it down.

Doesn't quite pull off its Citizen Kane for the 21st century ambitions, but comes damn close. Sorkin's dialogue can seem trite when dealing with the trivial (Studio 60, hello), but works for matters of real import - and, like it or not, the subject matter here is important to these characters and society alike. Eisenberg is grating as Michael Cera-lite, but here he is allowed to create a layered character and he pulls it off with skill. The rest of the cast is matches him step-for-step, and Fincher continues to prove that he can make any story visually interesting and eminently watchable.

If you see a trailer for this and then decide to see it, what did you expect, exactly? It's low brow, but Fraser does well with physical comedy and some of the bits are laugh out loud funny, the participants are having so much fun it's contagious and, come on, the real message here is that loving families should be respected and valued - what's wrong with that?
