The demo was so great I made it a point to dl it day one, and even looked to get a physical copy (which I found and was way too expensive). The game was good, but a bit buggy, and far too short. I really want to recommend it but I'd say definitely wait for a sale. If they fixed the bugs and gave us a few more levels I would say this game is a hidden gem that needs to be played.
Best RPG to come out this year by far. Looks and runs great on switch and puts anything the pokemon company has put out the last few years to utter shame.
It's cool, but its super over priced for what you get with the switch version. I bought it on sale and think I still paid way too much when a game like Tetris 99 is free. The multiplayer is good when it works properly, but besides that it's another highly overrated game. Get the legit VR version or just play Tetris 99 for free.
The original has more charm than this weeb slop port job. There are basically zero quality of life improvements besides the thing that gives your whole party experience (which puts the game in easy mode) and the ability to use HMs without making a slave. The worst part of this pos is the CHARACTER MOVEMENT. The game lets you use an analog stick to roam freely while still using a grid system, so you're constantly running into doorframes instead of a door, or moving around in a complete circle while trying to move between two rocks. This, mixed with the fact the game throws low level time wasting pokemon encounters at you every 5 steps makes this game an unbearable turd. I literally spent all my money on repels because I couldn't take it anymore. DO NOT BUY, buy or emulate the original.
This game is great..... if it was a launch title for the ps2 or gamecube. its a silly little platformer that is a clunky, cluttered mess for the most part. It's not horrible, but for $40 retail, its insulting to both consumers and other games, such as super luckys tale, which is leagues above this game. It should've honestly been a $20 digital game that eventually goes on sale for $12, I can't understand how this even got a physical release. The mechanics, camera angles, loading times, everything about this game feels like a decades old platformer. Don't be a rube like me and pay for this heap of trash. I did read a bunch of positive reviews before I bought it and, after playing it, I would like to meet one of these easily amused morons who actually likes this game and give them a slap in the face. DON"T BUY
Bought this game on a whim when it was on sale, and it has since made me a huge fan of the franchise. Since then I've finished it's sequel Apocalypse, then SMT3, and have just started Devil Survivor Overclocked. SMT4 is a fantastic JRPG, not just on the 3ds, but in general. It's like a dark pokemon with more vulgar themes and mature content. Cannot wait for for SMT5.
Fantastic love letter to the original sonic games, but with its own thing going on. Music is great and the story is fun, and can actually be skipped if its not your thing. I bought this on a whim without any knowledge of the game as the physical is a limited run game, but I'm glad I did as its a hidden gem.
Not as good as Skyrim or the Witcher, but def scratches that hack and slash RPG itch. It's an old port, but I never played it when it came out and bought it on a whim and have already sank over 24 hours into it.
SMT 4 and Apocalypse are some of the best JRPGs, not just on the 3ds, but of all time IMO. Other reviews say Apocalypse isn't as good as 4, but it's a great sequel. Cool story, with multiple endings (first one I chose actually made me feel bad). SMT is a great franchise thats been overshadowed by Persona, but now that we're finally getting SMT5 on switch, it may finally recieve the recognition it deserves.
Horrible controls! Even with the upgrades I could never get used to them by the time I finished the game. The story is okay, music is a bit bland for a Zelda game. The controls really ruin the game and I'm glad I finally finished it so I can resell it. Not worth $60.
I think this is the best game I've played all year. It looks great, controls are super tight, and the story is stellar. The gameplay, although challenging, is super satisfying when progressing through the many bosses and EMMIs. This is actually the first Metroid I've finished, I've always liked the series but would either get lost or put it down for so long that I'd forget what I was doing when trying to pick it back up, so now I'm going to go back and restart super metroid and metroid returns. Def GOTY contender.
This game is OK, but highly over rated. As far as Zelda games go, the puzzles are either super easy or super frustrating, but most are not fun and are surrounded in these bland boring looking shrines. The music is almost NON EXISTENT which is an absolute crime in a Zelda game. Besides the divine beasts and ganon, there are about 5 different enemy models. Hang gliding is fun, but climbing mountains is not. Weapons constantly break. The open world is barren, empty and uninspiring. I've tried so hard to love this game, I've put many many hours into it and overall I just think it's a decent action rpg without any REAL Zelda charm.
Looks great but the gameplay is basically a heavy rain meets code veronica but not as good. Story starts off a little creepy but just ends up becoming tedius. Played it free on gamepass and I still don't recommend.
Game looks great, music is great, but the battle mechanics are so clunky it becomes an absolute chore any time you fight a strong enemy. Played a lot of ports on my switch and this one def feels like a PS2/early PS3 game. Probably won't finish it.
Really good hack and slash RPG but is gets really cryptic when trying to progress in certain areas. One example; I had to look online on how to open a certain door after hours of dying and frustration and there was NO hint or explanation of how to properly do it.
The original Persona 5 is a way better game. This is a fun game if you've already played P5 and are a fan of the series, otherwise you will be lost when it comes to the story. The story itself and dialogue feels lame compared to P5. After 10 hours of play, I've found the majority of the game is scrolling through vast amounts of silly dialogue with little action in between. It looks good, and the combat feels good, but only reason I'm gonna finish it is because I'm a fan of the series. If you are new to this series I'd say stay away until you play the original P5.
Considering it's one of the few FPS for the Switch it's pretty good for a 13+ year old port. That being said, I never really undrstood the hype around this game. I know it pushed graphic boundries back in the day, but it's a very generic average shooter that isn't worth a $30 price tag imo.
It takes a few hours to really get into and understand this game, but it's well worth it. Combat is fun and fluid and the music/soundtrack is fantastic. I bought this game on a whim and am surprised how much I've come to enjoy it.
WAYYY too much platform jumping and monkey bar bs for a fps, let alone Doom game. Panic button did a great job with the port to switch but as far as the game plays there is too much jumping around. I was really hesitant to drop full price on this game, and boy I wish I did since you can basically play it for a fraction of the price elsewhere. If you've waited this long and want it for the switch for the love of god, wait for a sale on the eshop. It's digital only which is a huge bummer since I'm stuck with it. Combat is fun when youre not trying to wall jump everywhere, and again, very impressive looking for a Switch game. Overall it's a good game but the platforming sections are frustrating and just not fun, and the full price tag blows.
A very very disappointing cash grab from Game Freak and Nintendo. There is no reason this game couldn't have been on the 3ds as a $40 game. It looks horrible compared to most games on the switch, is a buggy mess, has massive pop-in issues and no post game content whatsoever unless you shell out another $30 for the dlc, which is also half assed. Worst mainline pokemon to date, which is sad because it could have been stellar if some actual love and care went into the development of the game.
I want to love this game but I don't. It's good for what it is, a knockoff Donkey Kong style game. Some of the levels are fun, but it becomes boring and starts to feel like a chore. I might be halfway through the game and I don't think I'll finish it, esp since the last level is apparently very difficult and I've already lost interest in getting that far.
It's ok, it's good not great. After playing Hades this game feels very shallow. I'm realizing I'm not the biggest fan of rogue games but it's fun for a run or two. I just don't find it addictive like others do.
$50 is a bit steep for this port, but considering I never played the original I didn't feel too ripped off. Honestly I was very impressed with both the visuals and performance on the switch, esp in handheld. The multiplayer is odd and I haven't succesfully played an online race yet, but I've been too busy playing the campaign. I didn't think I would like this as much as I do and was a nice surprise for once from EA.
This is not a tradition Zelda game, it's a Dynasty Warriors game. If you're a fan of both franchises you will probably love this game. If you loved BOTW and like hack and slash games you'll probably love this game. If you expect this to play like a traditional Zelda game, you're gonna have a bad time. I loved hyrule warriors and think this game is even better. Hope to see some cool DLC in the future.
This game is terrible. Some stages are fun but many of the boss battles are a frustrating horrible mess. There are no camera controls, which honestly doesn't matter UNTIL you have a boss battle and leads to many unfair losses. Any time I beat one of these bosses it didn't feel like I beat it on my own merit, but just out of luck after the 30+ time attempting. This game should be a ten dollar eshop game, but for $40 new it's just an overpriced cash grab port. This was my first and will definetly be my last monkey ball game. It's just not a fun game.
Took me a while to get into this game, but once I did I loved it. It's a simple hack and slash, tower defense game but is highly addictive, esp if you like the Zelda franchise.
It's the best mario kart to date. Multiplayer with friends is great, multiplayer online is great. It has infinite replayability and is fun for any age or skill level.
It straight up looks ugly, but makes up for in replayability. Some rounds I'll get killed super quick, but other times, with the luck **** pickup item you just keep pushing thru hoards of enemies and big bosses that seem impossible to conquer until you finally do. Fun game, esp with friends
Great 2d game that is similar to Celeste. Even when you die for the 50th time in a level, you can't help but keep pushing on until you final get to the end of a stage. Lent mine to a friend and I think I'm gonna have to rebuy to play again.
Overall it's a fun racing game, esp if you're a little burned out from Mario Kart. Not amazing, the story is pretty dumb but the gameplay itself is alot of fun.
It's fun, It's ok, but IMO I'd much rather be playing Devil May Cry or the first 3 God of Wars. I feel like it's just a "meh" kind of game and honestly don't care if a third one ever comes out, as I will most likely skip it.
Wayyyy too short for it's price. Game Freak really screwed up Pokemon this generation. Sword and shield should have been a 3ds game with a $40 price tag
Fantastic game with tons of replayability. It offers various degrees of difficulty so no matter if you're new to the franchise and wanna play it on a casual setting or if you're a die hard long term fan, this game is alot of fun and contains multiple story lines.
It's a good port for the switch, but overall I just really dislike this game. It looks great but the dialogue and overall story is just really bad sometimes and there is no way to skip cutscenes. The leveling up mechanic is super confusing and frustrating and overall I just feel like this is a super overated FF game. I felt the same way when it came out on the ps2 and I feel the same way now.
I wanna love this game but it's a very very clunky port. Music is great, visuals are pretty bad, combat just doesn't feel right. I also had multiple crashes through my gameplay. I finally finished it and have no desire to replay it so I shall be selling it.
