Kingdom Rush Vengeance10
Nov 22, 2018
As a long term fan of the Kingdom Rush series, I was thrilled to see a new game arrive. Short answer is that it's fantastic, a welcome addition to the franchise. The game has some controversy around it because you can now not only buy extra heroes (as per previous games) but towers too. Whilst this sounds odd at first, it makes sense. There are more towers than previously (if you buy no towers, you'll still have more to play with than in previous games) but they're purely optional, in fact, they appear to be weaker options than the free ones. To me, it's purely a way of adding extra options / longevity into the gameplay. There's absolutely no need to spend a penny on any of them. For me, they were an instabuy as I love the devs work. As for the game itself, if you've played the earlier games, you'll find yourself in similar territory but with a couple of differences. Firstly, instead of playing as the goodies against the baddies, this time around, you are the baddies which adds a fun spin on things, bringing lots of new characters and styles to the table. Secondly, instead of just having basic towers that you upgrade throughout the game, this time you get to choose which towers you want to use, rotating for variety as you see fit. This adds a new level of depth that should keep things fresh for longer. There's also more powerup options than there were before and again, you have choice over which you use. Graphically, the game is gorgeous, with more detail than ever before. In conclusion, a fantastic game, building on Ironhide's previous efforts. Highly recommended.

Super silly, enormous fun. Occasionally glitchy but nowhere near as bad as the reviews say, I’ve played for about 4 hours so far, and had a grin on my face for much of that. Really happy to recommend.

Great fun on the WiiU, equally awesome on the Switch, with the added bonus of co-op play and of course being able to play on the move. Had to counter another review who called it "literally unplayable" undocked. Complete nonsense, I've been gaming for 30 odd years and I don't recognise that sort of comment at all with this game. It holds up extremely well and I'd highly recommend it to anyone thinking of purchasing. Fun for kids and lots of "in-jokes" to keep the adults entertained as well.

I was looking forward to this a lot. When the reviews came out, i decided that it couldn't be any good. Having been repeatedly hassled by the kids, I gave in and bought it anyway. Very glad I did yes it can get a bit repetitive after a few hours but it's still great fun, looks beautiful, and is a pleasure for all the family (not many games you can say that about at this stage in the PS4's lifetime). Shocked by the 55 metacritic score I've given it a 10 to try and help balance out the low review scores in reality it's a 7-7.5 game I'd say.
