Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story10

Best season so far. Stylish and fascinating. Don't really care if it's accurate to history or not, just really loved the series.

Poker Face (2023): Season 18
Jan 28, 2023
It's already settled into a formula four episodes in, and it's got a very Jessica Fletcher feel to it (Charlie Cale just happens to be around when someone is murdered each episode so she can solve it) but it's also very entertaining. The structure is fascinating and fun - the first half of each episode showing the planning and execution of the murder with Charlie absent, the second retelling the story with her involvement added as she solves the crime - but I can see it getting tiresome after time. It will be fascinating to see if the structure mutates and evolves. In the meantime, I'm enjoying it very much.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power: Season 110
Sep 2, 2022
I loved it. It is visually stunning, and has great characters, and the potential to be an all time classic. Tolkien fanboys can go hide in their mummy's basement and write snarky posts about black elves and "lore'... the rest of us will enjoy a brilliant show.

13 Reasons Why: Season 44
Jun 15, 2020
It's always been annoying, but until now, the strengths have made up somewhat for the missteps. But frustration overwhelms whatever highlights there are in Season 4. Silliness takes over from empathy and there are scenes where I wondered why the hell I was persisting.

Game of Thrones: 8 The Iron Throne2
May 24, 2019
Attila 79, I have no rage. Just disappointment. As a whole, i enjoyed the final season, but the final episode was a sub-standard bore. It was corny (Brienne's entry about Jamie), endlessly drawn out with unnecessary exposition about characters' fates, heavy-handed (the manipulative and over-bearing score), predictable and risk-free, and completely anti-climactic. On first viewing I would have given it maybe 5 or 6, but on second viewing the flaws and flat out boringness of the episode was all too obvious. Sad.

The Conners: Season 110
Oct 17, 2018
Well I loved it. It was funny. And it was sad. I can see a real future for this show: the core four of Darlene, Dan, Jackie and Becky are magnificent. It was really very well done. I thought Roseanne's absence might make it too weird (I loved her character) but honestly it wasn't until the "closing" credits when it really hit me how much she will always be a part of this show - her absence from the table pan, her missing laugh... This was Roseanne's show, she will always be it's heart and soul, but just like real families when we lose someone, we keep going. And as long as The Conners keeps making me laugh as well as feel, then I'm staying with it. If you're not watching it (or giving it a unrepresentative score for political reasons) then you're the one missing out.
