very solid 4-5hr story rich walking sim in 1950's Montreal . there is a noir vibe with detective gameplay elements but the story is the main course. its a cute but complicated romantic story. solid recommend if you like the genre. ps calling this "woke" is just sad. very minor spoilers.....displaying the poor treatment of a minority group in the 1950s is 100% accurate. they would prolly call Huck Finn "woke" if it was written recently.

Do you like sinking hours or hours into a game? Grinding content for items for the ultimate build? Then i would recommend this game. Thats an easy recommend Do you follow the latest releases? Consistently playing different games or new releases? Then thats harder to say. This is the type of gamer i am now so my thoughts are complicated. My experience with this game was soured at the start. Note there is no set world order but getting N'erud first really made it feel like a slog thru a barren mono-colored world after seeing so much about how the zones were visually interesting and unique and even screenshots of detailed worlds. This was such a let down. If this happens to you, rest assured that it will end. If you are fine with the zone well thats even better. A lot of my disappointment was based on early impressions. I heard great things about the bosses. Yes, some were pretty good but most were either fine or boring with the same mechanics ive seen lots of times. If i went in blind im sure i would have enjoyed it more. The gun play with soulslike elements is fun. They nailed that foundation and i hope they continue making these games because that could lead to a masterpiece **** in the future and nobody else has done it nearly as well as they have.

im an old and jaded adult that isnt a fan of crpgs so i was skeptical. im tired of the recently bias of gaming but its true, this is a masterpiece. yes, there are flaws and some reviews have good criticism of the game, the bugs in the late game are unacceptable. luckily, its not Cyberpunk level of bugs so it is playable for most people. That, along with the goodwill they rightful earned, is why they have been given a pass by most gamers. Whether thats right or wrong, you tell me. The story and character development ranges in quality from mediocre to masterful. The combat is very fun even though i dislike pretty much every turn based game. Theres so many options for player choice in build, execution and agency that it can be overwhelming (at least in the class i chose). I think ill give more crpgs a chance and thats a great compliment to Larian. Any review complaining about "wokeness" can be disregarded as political whining. Larian made the game they wanted to thats not full of microtransactions and thats what i want from devs. I'm glad Larian was in the position to be able to deliver that to us. Even if you're not a fan of the game its a net positive for gamers to have another massive successful in the standard business model.
