The improved visuals did not distract from the original styling - 10/10. I was a huge Quake 1 fan from 1996 until its multiplayer seemed to die off in the mid 2000s. I decided to replay this in 2024 and it looks amazing on my high resolution monitor. The classic feel is still rpesent. The new extension Dimensions of the Machine is a treat!

I gave Mission Pack No. 1 a '6' score, and this one (No. 2) a '10'. I grew older and decided to refinish Quake 1 single player for the nostalgia. Also for the first time, I played Quake Mission Packs 1 and 2. I completed both within 2 days, so I'm able to compare the two. The difference between Mission Packs 1 and 2 is stark. I found out that they were created by different companies (Hipnotic and then Rogue or something). I got lost in some Mission Pack 1 maps, some of which also feel like they were created by the modder community (lower quality than what you'd expect from ID Software). I appreciate the clean and overall more consistent design of the maps in Mission Pack No. 2. The quality may even be on par with ID Software's map designer. Unlike No. 1, I did not get lost too easily in No. 2 - even in its "Maze" map. It gave me more run-and-shoot satisfaction. I recommend this simply if you want more than what single player Quake 1 has to offer you.
